Artifacts: Professional Development Plan; Professional Profile
Topic/Title: Block One Professional Profile; PDP Medium: Microsoft Word Technology Used: Microsoft Word; Wordle; Images My internships and experiences at Appalachian State University have given me the chance to reflect on the professionalism required for the education community in relation to young adolescent learners. I chose my Professional Profile to demonstrate my competency in Standard 5: Middle Grades Professional Roles because it exemplifies my professionalism in relation to the outer school community, including parents, county employees, and administrators. This newsletter was designed to be sent home with students when they enter my classroom to provide parents and guardians with a better understanding of who I am, my teaching philosophies, and my expectations to help foster a positive learning community for every student and adult involved. This document was created to open up lines of communication between myself, my students, and their families early in the school year. I chose my Professional Development Plan (PDP) because it outlines and illuminates my professional growth as well as my contributions to the professional community at my student teaching placement. My student teaching experiences have given me the opportunities to observe masters in the field of education so that I can
gain mentors and continue to grow and develop as a future educator. I
have attended numerous workshops, conferences, school-wide and county level meetings, as well as collaborating daily with my professional colleagues to ensure that my students are receiving the highest quality education possible. This artifact demonstrates my commitment to and passion for education as a while and the personal and professional relationships I have developed thus far.
