The Great War (or World War 1 as it became known) was a conflict of
epic scales that took place around the globe! Two sides fought for
dominance in the world: the Allies (UK, France, Russia, and later
the US) and the Central Powers (Germany, Ottoman Empire, and
Austria-Hungary).

After a lot of death and destruction, the Allies won (if you want
to call shattered countries and millions of young, dead soldiers
winning). With Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire being broken

The Treaty of Versailles left Germany responsible for the war. They were
demilitarized and forced to pay massive war reparations to the Allied
powers. This humiliation would not be forgotten. Meanwhile, Japan was
given German territories in the Pacific and Italy was cheated of what it
was promised during the war.
You deserve it!

In 1939, Germany began World War 2 by invading Poland. Japan had already
been at war in China since 1931 and Italy had invaded parts of Africa in
1935. By December of 1941, Germany had conquered much of Europe (including
France) and was advancing across the Soviet Union.
