Historical Buildings vs. Modern Buildings
The general topic I will be focusing on throughout the semester to write my essay
will be on how Historical Buildings are different from Modern Buildings. To make the
essay more detailed and successful, I will be backing up my general topic by comparing
and contrasting the advantages between Modern Buildings and Historical Buildings. As
well as by adding more information by describing the disadvantages of Historical
Buildings and Modern Buildings. A good example of another subtopic that could be used
to back up my general topic is how Modern Buildings impact the tourism in certain cities.
As well as how certain cities are known by their Historical Buildings instead.
When it comes to the advocacy positions that could be taken whether if is for or
against a Modern or Historical Building. I mention dice because the topic is very diverse,
due to the fact that not everyone has the same perspective toward these buildings. For
example myself, I love Art therefore I support Historical Buildings due to the fact that
they could be internationally recognized. An example of a historical building could be the
Leaning Tower of Pisa which is particularly recognized for its unique leaning structure.
The discourse community being targeted is this essay could people that have
interest in the citys appearance. This is relevant to the discourse community because the
community is the one deciding for what is best for the city. A brief example in our city
could be could be when the historical building was demolished to use the space to

construct a Baseball Park instead. In my opinion, the decision between preserving a

Historical Building to construct a Modern Building is a very significant topic to talk
about especially because there is a big controversy between keeping a Historical City and
or creating a Modern City.
The main goal I have with myself while writing about this topic throughout the
semester is to get more knowledge about the Historical Buildings throughout the world.
The main goal I have for the readers of my essay is to make them wonder what they
would like to have in their City of El Paso. The insight Im trying to bring to this topic is
the fact of making people aware of what they really want for their City and if by making
new Buildings that will reduce the words of El Paso is so boring there is nothing to do
here
Pretty much the reason for me to write about these topics is to show the pros and
cons of Historical and Moderns Buildings and make the readers think to themselves and
make them reflect towards what we have in our community. Especially here in El Paso
where there is never nothing to do. I think that everybody else will be interested about
the topic because they will be placed in a situation where they will realize how the
preservation of certain building in our city is not helping with the increase of tourism or
the renovation of new better plans for El Paso.
