Section 1: Summary
- Glenn Beck talks about how we as Americans are very first
world in our problems and thinking. He says we are blinded
by politicians and we refuse to acknowledge these
problems because we are sensitive to them. He says that
because everyone is so sensitive and politically correct no
one is willing to say anything to try and fix these problems.
Section 4: Criticism
-
Supports Ted Cruz, who exhibits islamophobia and has antiislam employees
-

Section 5: Elaboration
Rhetorical question: Beck included this in his book because it clearly shows the problem with our country and the
reasons why we can't end the war.
Why is it so difficult to understand? Stop and think about the madness of our nations cultural and political
elite. They lack the moral and intellectual clarity to win this religious war (Beck, 211).
Quotes from experts: it provides an opinion from a professional on the topic.
President Obama himself said in a CNN interview in February 2015 that there is an element growing out of
Muslim communities in certain parts of the world that have embraced a nihilistic, violent, almost medieval
interpretation of Islam (Beck, 205).
Statistics: Based on the survey results, it can give a better representation of what the Middle East community
thinks, and strengthens the authors claim about everything is about Isam.
One in five Egyptians approve of al-Qaedas work, while 23% of Indonesians say they support the terrorist
groups goals. Overall, about one-third of Muslims approve of Hamas, and one in four think highly of
Hezbollah (Beck, 209).
Anecdote: It shows the contrast between America and the Middle East.
Try to lecture a gay man in Iran- if one dared to surface-about American intolerance to homosexuals he'd
laugh at you (Beck, 204).
Analogy: Compares a prior piece of history, to the Islams. It shows that not all Muslims follow ISIS but the author
claims everything revolves around them.
When the United States fought nazism and fascism, Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New York Times didn't say,
Not all GermansMost Americans understood not all Russians wanted to eradicate the United States
(Beck, 208).
Section 6: Questions
What's the difference between Islam, Islamic, and
Muslim? Are they all connected? Why or why
not?
Do you think our leaders are too ignorant about
ISIS/Middle East?
Do you think it's possible to have another
holocaust?
