Reality is fragile and confusing

It started with postmodern architecture

Postmodernity in architecture is said to be heralded by the return of "wit, ornament and reference" to architecture in
response to the formalism of the International Style of modernism.
The functional and formalized shapes and spaces of the modernist style are replaced by diverse aesthetics: styles
collide, form is adopted for its own sake, and new ways of viewing familiar styles and space abound.
Architects rediscovered the expressive and symbolic value of architectural elements and forms that had evolved
through centuries of building which had been abandoned by the modern style

Building stood in stark contrast to the boxy

glass-and-metal towers that had sprung up in
Midtown Manhattan since the 1950s. Regarded
as the first Postmodern skyscraper, the 37-storey
building designed by Philip Johnson and John
Burgee featured a number of ornamental
flourishes, from its granite cladding and
"Chippendale" roof line to its brass and marble
finishes on the interior.

Architects and their grew bored with the

restrictive rules of modernism which
dictated that form follow function and
allowed for no decoration.

Simulacrum
a copy of a copy of a copy

theres no such thing as originality

Post-modernism Illustrated Disneyland Disneyland is a simulacra.

It is a simulated reality. It is artificial yet real. It is a place that exists

and is accepted because our imagination makes it so. The fine line
between reality and fantasy is greyer. The power of the symbol over
substance.

Post-modernism illustrated - diet

People are also driven by to change their body shape through diet..a control..choice.
People are constructing themselves and designing their individual identities

Post Modern Media presumes

that the audience is media literate and familiar
with a wide range of media references and
needs a high level of stimulation. Media started
to make intellectual references to other media
texts to entertain and amuse the audience and
involve them through their familiarity
