Lev Vygotsky reflection

Lev Vygotsky believed culture and social interactions guide cognitive development.
A childs development is inseparable from social and cultural activities. Culture
teaches children what and how to think. Vygotskys theory believes knowledge is
constructed through interactions with other people and objects in their culture.
Knowledge is advanced through interactions with other in cooperative activities. I
learned this is very important when working with young children. When we interact
with children, we contribute significantly to a childs intellectual development. When
we make our curriculum and activity plans, it should emphasize interactions
between learners and learning tasks. Through culture children acquire the content
of their thinking and provides the process or means of their thinking. Vygotsky calls
this intellectual adaption. Children learn problem solving from our assessments and
instructions. We teach children how to solve their own problems through
interactions. This is important when working with young children, we teach children
how to take responsibility and through language they will internalize the process of
learning. The zone of proximal development is the difference between what a child
can do on their own and what a child can do with help. Understanding the different
theories and the study of development supports childrens growth and learning.
