DAY OF THE DEATH
They believe that the gates of heaven
are opened at midnight on October
31, and the spirits of all deceased
children (little angels) are allowed to
reunite with their families for 24
hours.
On November 2, the spirits of the
adults come down to enjoy the
festivities that are prepared for them.

HALLOWEEN
Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night
of October 31
Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic
festival known as Samhain
Halloween, also known as All Hallows' Eve, can
be traced back about 2,000 years to a preChristian Celtic festival held around Nov. 1
called Samhain (pronounced "sah-win"), which
means "summer's end"

apple bobbing in which apples float
in a tub or a large basin of water and
the participants must use their teeth
to remove an apple from the basin.

DAY OF THE DEATH


1. It has pre-Hispanic origins that were accentuated with the arrival of the
Spanish in Mexico.
2. It is celebrated on November 1 ( "All Saints" dedicated to deceased
children) and November 2 (dedicated to the "older Departed").
