ItisagreathonorformetostandhereandgiveabriefspeechentitledFormalEducationinIndonesia
BrothersandSisters
Educationsysteminourcountryisdividedintotwomajorparts,theyareformalandnonformal.Aformaleducationisdividedintothreelevels:
primary,secondaryandtertiaryeducation.Whilenonformaleducationiscarriedoutforthelearnerswhogetdifficultiestomeettherequirementsin
formaleducation.AnexampleofnonformaleducationisPLS(PendidikanLuarSekolah).Bothformalandnonformaleducationaimat
establishingtheeducationprocessinourcountry.
LadiesandGentlemen
AsIhavestatedpreviously,formaleducationinvolvesthreelevels:primary,secondaryandtertiaryeducation.Beforeenteringprimaryor
elementaryschool,childreninourcountryusuallyhaveattendedkindergarten,orknownasTamanKanakkanak.Butthiseducationisnot
compulsoryforIndonesiancitizens,astheaimofthisisjusttopreparethemforprimaryschool.
Childrenages712attendprimaryeducationatElementarySchoolorSekolahDasar.ThislevelofeducationiscompulsoryforallIndonesian
citizens.SimilartoeducationsystemsintheU.S.andAustralia,studentsmuststudyforsixyearstocompletethislevel.Someschoolsofferan
acceleratedlearningprogram,wherestudentswhoperformwellcanfinishelementaryschoolinfiveyears.
Thenextlevelissecondaryeducation.Aftergraduatingfromelementaryschool,studentsattendMiddleSchoolorJuniorHighSchool(Sekolah
MenengahPertama)forthreeyearsfromtheageof1315.Afterthreeyearsofschoolingandgraduation,studentsmaymoveontoSeniorHigh
School.InIndonesia,thisschoolisbasicallydividedintotwokinds:SMA(SekolahMenengahAtas)andSMK(SekolahMenengahKejuruan).
SMAisdifferentwithSMKintheirstudies.ThestudentsatSMAarepreparedtoadvancetotertiaryeducationoruniversity,whilestudentsof
SMKasavocationalschoolarepreparedtobereadytoworkafterfinishingtheirschoolwithoutgoingtouniversity/college.Thelastlevelof
educationinourcountryistertiaryeducation.Studentswhohavegraduatedfromseniorhighschoolmayattendtouniversityoracademy.Theycan
chooseanykindsofuniversityoracademybasedontheirinterestsorscopesofknowledge,forexamplemajoringinEnglish,Mathematics,or
teachertraininguniversity.

SavingOurPlanetisaprogramthatwaspersuadingtheearthlingssothattheywouldbecomemoreconcernandcaretotheirentireenvironment.It
wasbecausethecivilizationthathasbeencreatedbythemodernpeopleinthismillenniumerahadaffectedsomanydestructiveimpactswhichare
reallyneededtobeconcerned.Theseimpactsarecausinganewproblem,TheGlobalWarming.Inprediction,thatinthelast100yearsthe
temperaturesofourplanethasincreasedby1everyyear.Meanwhile,theoceansurfacehasincreasedforabout1meterfromitsformerlevel.The
problemis,modernpeoplenotonlywantedtoincreasetheirprosperity,butalsoincreasetheirrateofcomfortable&luxuriouslife.
Thesituationwasverydifferentifwelookedbacktothelastcenturywherethepollution,theindustrialgarbage,andthetoxingaseswerefriendlier.
Friendlier,becauseonthe19thCenturythetechnologiesimprovementandtheconsumerismcharacterwasnotyetsignificant.Orshouldwesayin
thismillenniumera,theEarthexploitationandexplorationwerecausingthecrucialproblemfortheearthlings.
Howcrucialtheearthenvironmentalproblemswefaceareforexample:Theprotectedanimals&plantsfromcertainspeciesnearlyextinct,the
plantationsectoriscausinganotherproblemforenvironment&ecosystem,forestloggingwithoutreboization,andtheimpactofminesexploitation
thatcannotberecycledandmaintenanceofminesector,etc.Forus,theyouthgenerationisaskingtothepoliticiansandthegovernmentespecially
inIndonesia,WhydothoseproblemsImentionedleftuncaredwithoutanypreventiveactions?Infact,ourexMinisterofEnvironmentofOrde
BarueraProf.Dr.EmilSalimhaswarnedandgaveusanopinionaboutwillhappenonthenext20years.Hesaidthatthesituationwillbe
dangerousiftherearenoactionstopreventthis.Weneedtheproactivestepstomaintainthenatureandtorehabiliteewhatwehavedisruptedfrom
everydepartmentthatisconnectedwiththeenvironmentalcasesandourcommunity.Theexampleabouttheimpactofhumansgreedtothenature
isTheLapindoBrantascase.Thatshowthenatureshowsustheirpower.
Theresnotevenonehumancouldstandagainstthepowerofnature.Untilnow,therearenowaystostopthemudthrowingandeventhe
poisonousgasesthatisunwantedbythepeople.
WeasthekhalifahoftheEarthcanonlybegging,begging,andbeggingtothenatureanddestroythenature.Butwhenwemustgivesomethingto
thenatureormaintainthenature,wefeelthatwedontwantto!Isthenatureretaliatingourdoings?WhenwethinkdeeplyoverthisIguessthe
answerisyes,thenatureisangrytous.Thenaturesbalancewasreallydisturbedbythemortalshandsandthisbehaviorhasspreadwidelyover
theworldbecauseofourhedonism.
ThequestionisHow?Howdowerealizecollectivelyfortheworldslifesothatsothatthe
Earthcouldbecomeabetterplacetolive?
Weastheyouthgenerations,thelinesofthecivilizationmustbeasonetocreatethevision&missiontohelpthegovernmentandthepeoplefor
watchingoverthereboizationprogramandfortheenvironmentreparationthatiscausedbytheindustrialistandthepeoplegenerallywhereverthey
are.Weastheyouthgenerationwithoutexceptionmustbetotallydevoteourbodies&willsforthesakeofhealthyworld,comfortableworld,and

IsuggesttothegovernmentandthepeopleofIndonesiatoplantthecambiumplantsorthepotplantsoneveryoneofthehousegarden.Everyone,
everypeoplemustberesponsibleforeverysingleofplants.Imagine!Ifeverypeoplehave1plantinonehouse,thereare200millionsofplantsin
Indonesia.ThisisaverygoodsteptobeginourmissiontopreventtheGlobalWarming.Startthisonanytimenow!Formyrecommendation,the
