To Whom It May Concern:
Hello, my name is Conrad Kinsey. I am a student at Antelope High School. As part of one of my
recent asignments, I am required to write you a letter about the Syrian Refugee Crisis and compare it to
the events of World War II. As part of this assignment I have read several documents on the matter and
have arrived at the conclusion that, the Syrian Refugee Crisis is to the events of World War II, but the
Syrian refugees should not be allowed into our country.
Currently around 11.5% of the Syrian population is hurt or dead. There is also a large number of
Refugees fleeing to nearby countries. The refugees and costs of not doing anything is becoming great as
countries are beginning to struggle with the large influxes of Syrian people into their countries. This also
creates an issue of infiltration. As more of the Syrian refugees come in, the chances of spies and others
who are working for ISIS increases dramatically. This leaves many countries fearful for there own safety
as well.
Although the events of World War II and the current crisis have many differences they also share
shocking simularities. One of these similarities is how people are and did flee from their home countries
into nearby countries. During World War II an event known as the Holocaust took place. The event cost
the lives of many including 6 million Jewish people, including the father and mother of Elie Wiesel,
author of Night. Which is the story of how the author went through, and survived, the Holocaust. The
events that took place in the novel caused many Jewish people to flee to nearby countries, which were
fearful to let the Jewish in due to the chance that German spies might be among them. This event lines up
with the current happenings in Syria. Many people are fleeing their home country of Syria hoping to
escape the growing civil war there, but due to the threat of Syrian spies sneaking in with the refugees,
many countries are fearful of letting the refugees in. The other simularity is the fact that people who do
not care about the war are being dragged into it and killed. During the Holocaust this was the Jewish
population of Germany and the counties that Germany had control over. This is now occuring to the
residents of Syria. Children, mothers, and fathers are all being killed because of the war. Many of these
people are not even involved in the war but get dragged in, despite trying to escape it.
Currently there are 31 governers who are rejecting the idea of taking in Syrian refugees because
of the threats they could pose. I agree with these governers There are two reasons for my agreement. The
first is the possibility of ISIS using the refugees to get into the US. If that were to happen it could create a
very dangerous situation here in our home country. The second reason I agree is because of Obama.
Although I admire many of the presidents, Obama has been known for failing in many of the tasks he has
attermpted. One such example was healthcare.com. The website was supposedly bug free and was meant
to help many who were in need of healthcare. Upon the websites release there were many bugs. This
made it difficult for many to use the website and greatly decreased Obamas credibility. With the

healthcare website filled with bugs, how are we supposed to trust the screening process the refugees need
to go through in order to be considered for departure to the US. Therefore the governers were justified in
there decision to not allow the refugees.
For the reasons above, the event occuring now is similar to the events of World War II, but the
Syrian refugees should not be allowed to enter the US. Therefore I believe you should vote to keep the
Syrian refugees out of the US. I apreciate you reading this letter and hope you consider what I have
written.
Sincerely,
Conrad Micheal Kinsey
