Why Online Education Is Effective?
After technology took a huge part in our life, people now use technology to accomplish
most of their needs in life. They use high-tech and improved devices to pay their bills, book
appointments, do their work, shop, communicate with the other half of the world, and also, to
study. With the help of Internet, studying online is getting very popular between students. They
may be taken blended or hybrid classes, which means going to a regular class but doing the
homework and exams online. Other students may choose Distance Learning. Some students
prefer distance learning, because it is much easier and flexible way to study. Online education is
making studying easier for students by giving them the opportunity to study in their own pace,
get help with homework immediately, in addition it is making education more flexible.
Students are moving into Internet based education. As it is mentioned in the article Why
internet-based education? By Morton Ann Gernsbacher, Department of Psychology, University
of WisconsinMadison, a third of all U.S. college and university students were enrolled in an
Internet-based course last year. Enrollment in Internet-based courses increased a whopping 440%
during the past decade. That means students know that enrolling in online-based courses is a
chance to make the courses easier. Having an online based courses help the student to understand
and be more engaged with the material than the regular classes.

Internet based education doesnt need to be a full time online learning. However, Internet
based education is to use Internet to study. For example, it includes blended classes; which
means going to regular face-to-face class but have your assignments, and exams online, as
Amani Mubarak Al-Khatir Al-Arimi mentioned in the article Distance learning, E-learning is
naturally suited to distance learning and flexible learning, but can also be used in conjunction
with face-to-face teaching, in which case the term Blended learning is commonly used.
Likewise, it could be distance learning, distance education is a field of education that focuses on
the pedagogy/andragogy, technology, and instructional system design that are effectively
incorporated in delivering education to student teacher and student may communicate
asynchronously and synchronously (Al-Arimi). And it means, taking a whole online courses and
studying in your own pace at any time you want.
For me, when comparing online classes with regular classes that I take, I am tracking the
material for the online class more frequent than the regular class. I should log to for example
Pearson to do my math homework everyday after the class Internet-based courses can and
should be constructed to require students to engage with the material every day (Gernsbacher).
And this is helping me with getting higher grades, because when I struggle with doing my
homework I can get an immediate help from Pearson; it gives solved example that have the same
concept as the homework. Also, some instructors in Moodle gives feedback on the rough draft
essay, which help with improving my writing skills, know my mistakes in writing, and this will
help me getting high grade in the final draft. However, when I was only taking a face-to-face
classes where there wasnt any assignments online. I always forget about any due dates, I wait
until the day before the class to do the homework; and this lead to having low grades, and
forgetting the material easily. Having my schedule online helped me to remember my

assignments rather than having it on a paper. At present, we are always on our devices and taking
online classes always help to be in track.
Furthermore, online-based education help special needs students. Most of special needs
students dont feel comfortable to communicate with others. In most countries, special needs are
being neglected and thats why they tend to study online. Not only they feel comfortable, but also
it helps them to fight their disabilities. Multisensory teaching is helping most of students with
disabilities. For example, students with Dyslexia cant read from a regular book. However, they
can download online book to help them Students with dyslexia learn more efficiently when
material is presented visually (Reid). These books help Dyslexia students with shifting letters
that they cant read. Moreover, student with disabilities have a variety of application that they
can download online to help them with studying Although many of these applications are
designed to entertain, many more are designed to educate, some specifically for students with
dyslexia and other disabilities (Reid).
Another reason Internet-based education is attractive. Flexibility The flexibility of
staying home while getting a good education makes online education appealing (Li). Some
students find a difficulties coming to classes everyday, either because they live away from
campus, or because they work. So, online education is helping them to get their degree without
the need of travelling back and forth campus. Also, some graduate students work and study in the
same-time. Because of the flexibility of Internet-based education, they can combine doing both
successfully with the help of Internet Because of the availability of information, students can
study in any location at any time of the day according to their schedule (Li). It supports them to
fit both studying and work in their schedule without the pressure of going to classes on campus.

Yet, students have a variety of universities to attend, even if its not in their country.
Online education is giving them the opportunity to choose any university they want to attend, if
it offers online courses, without the need of travelling Students are not limited to the few
universities near their area, and they have more freedom to choose where they really want to
study (Li).
Distance learning is much cheaper than the regular face-to-face classes Face-to-face
classroom learning may not be accessible within some students immediate environment or is
limited due to financial inability (Hernandez). However, if they study online they can save a lot
of money; as an example, saving transportation fees. Also, another reason why it is cheaper,
because the students are using their own devices, and their own place. School doesnt have to
pay for the electricity or classrooms to make an educational atmosphere. And if the school didnt
pay for making good atmosphere for the students, then it wont cost a lot of money.
Not to mention that, Internet is making researches much easier for students. Students now
have the chance to find enormous number of articles online. For me, a California State
University Of Northridge student, the university library Oviatt Library has a huge number of
sources that help us, the students, to achieve a good research. Besides that, we can to read books
online. Oviatt Library is offering the student the chance to save their time; they dont have to
stay at library all the day to find a good, and reliable source. Also, students can search for books
online and find it easily in the library if they want it.
Not only it helps the student, it also help the professors with saving their time. First, as it
was mentioned before, most blended classes have exams online in Moodle. So the professor
grade the exam once and later Moodle do it for the students. The same is happening in Pearson,

Alqallaf

the instructors grade the homework and quizzes once and it works automatically later. This is
helping most of the professors to have less pressure.
In conclusion, Internet is very beneficial for students and professors. Online learning
became very popular among students. Most of them transfer their education journey from regular
to online because they know that it will work for their benefit at the end. They can study in any
place at any time with the presence of their device. As well as online education will save a huge
amount of money, and it gives workers the opportunity to be full time student and full time
worker. In addition, it is helping many disable student to success and fight their disability by
offering them visual aids that help them to success in the course. Lastly, online learning saves
professors a lot of effort with grading homework and exams.
