FAVORITE SUBJECT MATTER

flourished throughout the 1960s
Also known as pop art

ROUTE TAKEN TO BECOME AN

ARTIST
He became a hypochondriac (fear of hospitals and doctors) and became
bedridden, which caused him to become an outcast
Drew in his bed, while listening to the radio and he collected pictures of
movie stars and hung them around his bed
Enrolled in Carnegie Institute of Technology and studied commercial art
He joined campus Modern Dance Club and Beaux Arts Society
He directed the cover of a magazine called Cano, in 1949
Earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts in pictorial design in 1949

TECHNIQUES USED
Watercolor painting involves water-based colors made with pigments and water
Acrylic painting sometimes used acrylic paint by applying color to the photo
negative that followed to be silk-screened
Silk-screening Used an over-sized photograph, which he cut into a stencil. Then
he would glue the stencil onto the silk screen. Next, he would place the silk over
the canvas, apply the ink, and roll a rubber squeegee over the silk and the
stencil. The ink would penetrate the silk but not the portions with glue. This
allowed Warhol to replicate the same image several times.
Oxidation paintings uses urine and acrylic colors on linen to create these
abstract paintings. Next, he covered the canvases with a copper glaze, which
reacted with the uric acid, creating visually pleasing effects on the dark
backgrounds.

WHY I PICKED ADAM WARHOL

When I was younger I was never interested in art or photography, but I

would always see the different color paintings of Marilyn Monroe and I
have always been fascinated by them. When I was picking an artist I
would type their names into google images and their art work would
appear. Right when I saw the pictures of Marilyn Monroe, I knew I had to
do Andy Warhol. I also am fascinated with celebrities and how different
photoshoots are from the 60s to now.
