Next the will show a picture
file about penguins to
students.

lesson. It will also help

The teacher will read the
text, Penguins Are Cool!, by

Connie and Peter Roop.


Next, the teacher will show
students a large circle map on
a poster board. Written in the
the center of the circle map
will be, penguins.
The teacher will ask students
to recall facts from the story to
place write on the circle map.
As students tell facts about
penguins the teacher will fill
in the circle map.
Once the circle map has been
completed the teacher will
review the information.

RATIONALE
By using a circle map,
students are recalling
information from the text.
They are also creating a
visual device that will help
them in the beyond activity.

and make a picture to show
