incarceratedintheunitedstates.Itthenanalyzesthereasonsbehindwhythese

Americansofthe1800swere.SothereisabalancebetweenlivingthefreeAmerican
way,yetatthesametimemaintainingmindfulnessofcurrentsocietyanditsrules.
Italsocoverspersonalinterviewswithinmatesthathadbeenincarceratedfor
minorcrimesabouttheirtimeinprison,theirappealprocess,andtheirsuccessesinlife
afterservingtheirsentence.
Kontosusesapathosfeelthroughouthiswriting.Therewasalotofinformation
thrownaroundineachparagraph,butalloftheinformationfeltpersonal.Kontos
definitelymadeiteasyforanyonetoempathizewiththeprisoners,andalsoleada
reflectiononhistorysoothersmaystartlookingdeeperthanwhatislabeledrightand
wrongintodayssociety.
Theinformationprovidedwillhelpmyessayimmensely.BecauseIdonothave
thetimeortheresourcestovisitandinterviewaprisonerinaprivatelyownedprison,I
canusetheinterviewsfromthisarticleasawayformetofakeconductingtheinterview
myself.Kontosalsoaskedalltherightquestionsnotonlyinhisinterviews,butoverallin
hiswriting.Hehasverygoodinformationforanswerstothesequestions,andprovides
thoroughexplanationstodifferentpointshewantstomakeextremelyclear.These
ideaswillmakeforgreatreferencesinmypaper.

Thisdocumentaryalthoughold,isfullofinformationregardingtheprison
industrialcomplexandobviouslythelawsandarrestsinvolvingdrugs.Thisfilmhas
footageofofficerswhotargetdrugusersandtraffickerstomakearrests.Notonlydoes
itshowhowtheymakethearrestsandhowtheyseizepeople'sbelongings,butthey
showthemorallyillegalwaytheseofficersgoaboutit.
Thecredibilityofthisdocumentarymakesalegitimatepoint.Wegettogoinside
ofaDEAagencyandwatchalonginterviewwithsomeonewhomwasahighly
regardedagentoftheDEA.Thesearedefinitelycrediblesources.Thedocumentaryis
also90minuteslong,sotheygottocoveralotofdifferentsideeffectsthatusually
comewithincarceratingsomeonethathasafamily.
ThereissomuchinformationinthisdocumentaryIthinkIcouldwritemyentire
researchpaperusingthisonesource.Theinsightspecificallyfromthepoliceofficers
pointofviewwasextremelyeyeopening,alongwiththepointofviewofthekidsbeing
usheredintofosterhomesasarepercussionoftheirparent/parentsbeingthrowninto
jail.ItisthestrongestdocumentaryIcoulduseformypaperandwillshowagood
developmentalhistoryofthePrisonIndustrialComplex,asthedocumentaryisadecade
old.

formorethana24hourspan.Thiscausesthehomelesstocontinuemovingstreetto
street,orsuffertheconsequencesofincarceration.

justifiableinheropeningsentence.Shealsowritesaboutspeakingwithdirectorsofthe
homelesspopulationinSFandwhattheyhavetosayaboutthematter.
Thisarticleisfullofinformationabouttheincarcerationofthehomelessinto
prisonandtheinjusticeofdoingso.Itwillbeanextremelyeffectivearticletousefor
oneofmymainpointsinmyresearchpaper.IamalsofromtheBayAreaandwould
alwaysvisitSanFranciscowhileIwasgrowingup.Sotheplacesandproblemsshe
referencesarefamiliartomebecauseIhavehadsomeofthesamefirsthand
experienceobservingthiskindofactivity.Thiswillmakeitextremelyeasiertousethis
