(1) Begin with the Thinklink.com interactive gladiator painting: Pablo Picassos Guernica
(1937) antiwar painting in which they will see new words used to describe a Nazi war
crime. Interactive tags on the painting link to word definitions and explanations at
Vocabulary.com.
(2) Proceed to Quizlet activities in which they will see words paired with complementary
illustrations and definitions
(3) Play interactive Battleship game via Quia.com
(4) Complete an online formative assessment at Quia.com.
(5) Learners answer AP.

CASE: The Cisco family woke to find their vegetable garden and lawn completely ruined.
They are blaming Sparky, a 2 year-old terrier they rescued from the dog pound. Given the
extensive damage, they are considering getting rid of him. However, Sparky saw the whole
thing. In fact he tried to barked to wake the family.
YOUR MISSION: Rescue Sparky from certain death at the dog pound by solving each
riddle. Each riddle refers to a word from Vocab 4A, and provides an important clue that
will reveal the real critter culprit responsible for the damage.

RULES:
1. Each player picks a card and reads the clue aloud for the team.
2. The team uses the Vocab 4A glossary to figure out the word described in the clue.
3. The team completes the clues chart (dry erase laminated charts).
4. Next player picks a card and repeats the process.
5. When all clues are solved, complete the Mystery Solved sheet.
