Provisional Cast On:
with crochet hook and scrap yarn make a
chain with more links than the number of
cast on stitches required. Pick up sitches
into the butt of the chain by inserting your
needle into the bumps on the underside of
the chain links. When youre ready to knit the
provisional stitches, undo the crochet chain
and unravel it placing the live stitches back on
your needle as you go.
Knit two together (K2tog):
Insert your right needle tip into the next two
stitches and knit them together as one stitch
(one stitch decreased).
Slip, slip knit (SSK):
Slip next two stitches knitwise, insert left
needle tip into the front legs of the slipped
stitches, wrap yarn around the right needle tip
and knit the two stitches together from this
position (one stitch decreased).

With contrasting color(s) cut 12 fringe clusters of 7

strands each - 29 total.
Beginning just above the horn and with RS of hat
facing, fold fringe cluster in half and use your
crochet hook to pull the yarn cluster at the fold
through the horizontal bit of yarn between the two
knit stitches at the center front of the hat about
1. Next, pull the rest of the fringe length through
the loop that you just pulled through the front of
the hat. Tug on the fringe to tighten it against the
hat.
Repeat for the remaining 28 fringe clusters placing
each one just above the previously one. Mane will
span the front, top, and back of the hat. Trim mane
fringe so that all of the strands are approximately
the same length - about 5 or desired length.

K all sts.

Cut yarn leaving long tail, using tapestry needle

weave tail through remains sts twice, pull top of
horn closed.

Finishing
Stuff horn using a knitting needle or other long
pointy object to help push stuffing into the very end
of the horn.

Using MC make two 10 braids and attach to ends of

earflaps.

With same color as horn, cut 3 long pieces of

yarn. From cast on edge of horn count up 14 rnds.
Using tapestry needle weave yarn through every
other stitch of 14th row all the way around the
circumference of the horn. Pull yarn tight to cinch
piece. Knot yarn and pull ends to inside of horn.

Make pom poms with contrasting color(s) and sew

to ends of braided ties.
Weave in all ends.
