STORAGE
On receiving the wire rope check the identification and certification along
with the rope & reel condition.
Rope should be kept in such a way such that it has no contact with the
ground.(Ex: should be kept on cemented floor or on stands)
Rope should be kept covered at all times with a protective covering which
allows ample ventilation inside it.
If rope is supplied with heavy lubrication or stored in warm temperatures
for a long period of time, it is advisable to rotate the reel for about 90
every 2 months.
Ensure that the rope is stored where it is not likely to get effected by
chemical fumes, steam high temperatures or other corrosive agents.
It is recommended to always follow First in First Out system while
managing wire rope inventory.
All details like location, rope identification number, date of entry into the
store etc should be maintained in proper records.
Handling the rope with forklifts or other equipments should be done
carefully avoiding any damage to rope surface.
