Pop Art
The 1960s was an extremely

Endangered Animals Series

10 original silkscreen prints by pop artist
extraordinaire Andy Warhol. In 1983
Warhol produced this series of portraits
of animals facing extinction at that time.
His use of bright colors and gestural
lines lend dimension and power to the
images. These human-like portraits are
filled with emotions and intrigue, leaving
us with the impression that the animals
are aware of their fate.

COMPOSITION!
is the placement or arrangement of
visual elements or ingredients in a work of art,
as distinct from the subject of a work.

BALANCE:

a way of combining elements to add

a sense of stability

Balance is a skill that everyone uses almost all of their waking

hours. It is balance that allows you to stand up and walk around.
You balance your checkbook and hopefully find a balance between
your academic and social life.

Visual interest
is what you balance in design. Different colors, shapes sizes, etc.
create different degrees of interest.
It is the distribution of this interest
that you need to control.

FORMAL : SYMMETRICAL
Formal balance, also called symmetrical balance, is a
concept of aesthetic composition involving equal weight and
importance on both sides of a composition

INFORMAL : ASYMMETRICAL
"informal balance occurs when elements are placed
unevenly in a piece, but work together to produce harmony overall.
