Dimensions of Culture Program

2016

SYLLABUS
Dimensions of Culture 4: Revolution
Lecture A: Adrian Lam (ael018@ucsd.edu)
MWF 11:00-11:50 in Solis Hall 107

Course Description:
DOC 4, Revolution, is designed to connect the broad themes and concepts revealed in DOC 1, DOC 2, and
DOC 3 with current events from 2015 to present day. From the beginnings of Chattel Slavery to the Gay Rights
Movement, the previous courses emphasized historical events and the concepts occurring back then. In this course,
students will gain the capability of connecting controversial issues and current events to the issues brought about
in the past. DOC concepts and events have happened in the past; however, they do not stop or cease to exist.
Residual ideologies and actions continue to persist into the future, and it is up to future generations to be able to
understand and approach these issues to bring about solutions for the betterment of all.
