To questions heros ethic and morals first one must understand the
meaning of the words, so not being quite sure the differences between
Morals, Ethics and the justification of a Hero, I had to look up the
dictionary meaning. To summarize the meanings from Dictionary.com ;
morals is founded on fundamental principles rather than on legalities,
enactment, custom or the distinction between right and wrong and capable
of conforming to the rules of right conduct. Ethics is comprised of morals. In
other words, it is morals that lead to how ethical a person can be. A hero is
someone that displays courage in the sight of danger and performs brave
deeds or has special powers than any other ordinary human. In Watchmen
we are presented with 6 individuals that are portrayed as heroes, each one
serving for the good of mankind. Individuals that feel they are upholding the
law and are on the side of justice. These heroes are self-appointed brave
individuals helping out society with what they consider criminal offense. In
reality these individuals are just vigilantes taking the law into their own
hands. Whether they do right by mankind and serve a selfless act in the
name of protecting society can be questionable. Some of the acts that these

heroes performed were not at all heroic and can be seen at times selfish and
even criminal like. Each of these individuals in their own mind had the
essential concept of helping others and believed to be doing the right thing
for mankind but were slightly jaded by their views of society as a whole.
The Comedian and Rorshach viewed society the same way, corrupted.
They did not care for society itself. With their self-righteous attitude and
feeling mightier than the rest of society, they benefited from the law and
abused their power to punish those who they deemed to be criminals.
Rorshach and the Comedian differed in their self-image. The Comedian had
confidence and portrayed himself as an unstoppable force of nature that
played by his own rules. Rorshach was scarred since childhood and lacked
confidence and masked it with anger. Both characters thrived on fear and
they were judge and juror practicing swift justice.
Nite Owl and Miss Jupiter were the perfect couple, they had many
things in common. They both lived in denial.
Ozymandias was selfish.
Dr. Manhattan didnt value life.
