Polygons:

A Polygon is a closed figure, formed by connected

segments. They have no curves, rounded edges, and no
openings.
(Quadrilaterals, Parallelograms, Trapezoids,
Rectangles,Rhombi, and Squares, are all examples of a
Polygon.)

Quadrilaterals:
A Quadrilateral is a 4 sided polygon, whose angles all add
up to 360*. A Quadrilateral is considered to be a Polygon.
(Parallelograms, Trapezoids, Rectangles, Rhombi, and
Squares are examples of Quadrilaterals.)

Parallelograms:

Trapezoids:

This figure is considered a

Quadrilateral. It has 2 sets of
parallel sides. Its opposite
sides, and angles, are
congruent. Its consecutive
Angles are supplementary. The
diagonal angles also bisect
each other.
(Rectangles, Rhombi, and
Squares are examples of
Parallelograms.)

This figure is also considered a

Quadrilateral. It has one set of
parallel sides, which are called
the Bases. The other set of
sides are called the Legs. They
are not parallel, but they are
congruent.

Rectangles:

Rhombus:

This figure is considered a

Parallelogram. A rectangle has
four 90* angles. It also has two
sets of congruent, parallel sides.
Opposite sides are congruent,
and they also bisect each other.
(A Square is an example of a
Rectangle.)

This figure is considered to be a

Parallelogram as well. All sides
of a Rhombus are congruent. It
also has 2 sets of parallel sides.
The Consecutive angles of a
Rhombus are Supplementary.
(A Square is also an example of
a Rhombus, as well.)

Squares:
A Square is Considered to be a
Rectangle, Rhombus,
Parallelogram, Quadrilateral, and
a Polygon! All angles are
congruent. All sides are
congruent. All angles measure
90*.

REAL WORLD EXAMPLES:

Polygon:

This Starfish is a real world example of a polygon, because it is a

closed figure formed by straight segments.
Quadrilateral:

This Guitar Body is a real world example of a Quadrilateral,

because it is formed by four straight segments.
Parallelogram:

The inbetween section on this crooked tennis netis a real world

example of a Parallelogram, because the shape has two sets of
parallel sides, and is a Quadrilateral.
Trapezoid:

The side of this Pop-Corn container is a real world example of a

Trapezoid, because it is a Quadrilateral, and has only one set of
parallel sides.
Rectangle:

The bricks used in this brick wall is a real world example of a

Rectangle, because they are parallelograms, and the opposite
sides are congruent.
Rhombus:

The side of this Eraser is a real world example of a rhombus,

because it is a Quadrilateral and has 2 sets of parallel sides.
Square:

This Rubix Cube is a real world example of a Square, because it

has all congruent sides, angles, and it is also a Parallelogram,
Rectangle, and a Rhombus.
