Overview

My project is to make an animation that can be used to teach young children a life
lesson. Also, in the process learn as much as I can about animation in the process.
Purpose
The purpose of my project is to learn more about animation threw an internship and
doing research, and how these skills I learn could help me now and later in life. I want to
be an Aerospace Engineer later in life, and as one I will need to make digital designs
and short animations to demonstrate designs. Studying animation will also help me
establish a more creative way to design. I have been very interested in Aerospace
engineering for years now, and enjoy learning about space and space crafts. I also went
to Johnson space center during the summer after my joiner year with the High Scholl
aerospace scholars program for a week.
Internship
My mentor will be Mr. Michal Warren, a teacher at global high. I will have him to look at
my animation and give me feedback. My other mentor is Mrs. Kristen McClain. She is a
2nd grade teacher at Shackelford Elementary. At 411 N Gibson St, Waxahachie, TX
75165.
Audience
My main audience is Mrs. McClains 2nd grade class, and perhaps a few other classes at
Shackelford Elementary. To make it more engaging to them and to find a good topic I

asked some children a series of questions. What do you struggle with? What is your
favorite animal? As well as other questions.
Research Topic
My research question is, are people more likely to learn something from a informational
cartoon or a lecture? I will be teaching two lessons one with a animation and one
without in order to research this.
Measure of Success
As a measure of success I will provide the children with a pre and post task. I will do this
for both for lecture and animation presentations.

Design Process
The problem is to make an animation that teaches children a life lesson. I will need to
brainstorm ideas and characters that will be used in the story. Then I will watch other
animations for tips and tricks. I will need to make sure that time is a constraint and a
criteria that must be met. Fallowed by coming up with a few script ideas. I will proceed
to pick the best. Then I will need to make it into a full script. Then I will make 1st
animation. Then watch it for bugs or errors and fix the problems. Fallowed by making
into a movie format. Then I will show to kids
