I am graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle in July 2016. I will be
graduating with a Bachelor of Education: Primary with a specialisation in English. I have
received my teaching experience through schooling, study at university, completing
University practicum, working in a school and, volunteering. Through my study and
experience, I have developed organisation, enthusiasm, flexibility and innovation when
planning and implementing lessons and activities. My personal pedagogy revolves around
a safe ad inclusive learning environment, creating and implementing a range of engaging
and educative programs, and supporting students to achieve their best.

School Teaching Experience


As per University requirements I have participated in, and completed, four Practicum
Experiences at four different schools. During each practicum I was supervised and
assessed by the classroom teacher, the principal and the Head of Practicum or the
university set supervisor. Below are the responsibilities, skills and achievements for these
practicum.

I was able to develop a repertoire of behavior management skills for a class or


individual students to ensure all students were on task during the learning process
I was able to educate about physical and mental health, including the topic of
bullying, to make students aware of the consequences and how to ask for help
I was able to design and implement Lesson Plans, Programs and Forward Planning
Documents for different ability levels and subjects. My planning is always done on
time and is considerate of learning difficulties, learning styles and learning ability of
the students in the class
I developed and collected a range of resources to support student learning
I attended a number of Professional Development days and seminars with the staff
from the school I was teaching at
I was able to take on challenges given to me by my classroom teachers and, to my
best ability, demonstrate how to overcome those challenges
Throughout my practicum I was able to work with Indigenous, and Special Needs
students, both individually and in a classroom environment to support their
learning and ensure they felt an equal part of the classroom environment
I was able to enhance scheduling and planning through the use of Daily Work Pads
and Forward Planning Documents
I was able to develop a range of assessment strategies for both formal and informal
assessments
I was able to create and use a range of tasks that were appropriate to assess
students knowledge of particular concepts
I had experience with reporting to stakeholders
I had a constant contact with parents both personally and through email. It is my
belief through the words of parents that I am approachable. I value this contact as I
believe that parents play a large part in the education of their children.
I was able to reflect on advice and criticisms and use them to improve my teaching
practice for the future
I developed my professionalism, attending all staff meetings, supervising overnight
camps, attending Professional Development, and being involved with all staff run
school activities.
I was able to create and implement and school incursion called History Day to
summarise and celebrate students learning of Australian History and the First Fleet.

The day consisted of activities over various subjects related to what the students
had learnt over the term. The students, teachers and parents involved thoroughly
enjoyed the day.
I was able to communicate effectively with staff, and tried my best to become one
of the team when I was on my practicums
I was able, over the term(s), to experience the life, responsibility and workload of a
full time teacher.

Attended the trip in 2010 as a group member and in 2011 as a group leader
I helped with and cared for children in a local orphanage. This included supervising
them at meal times, reading to them, playing with them, teaching them Bible
songs, and putting them to bed every night for the two weeks of the trip
I helped with the teaching of basic English and reading skills in the local school
library
I attended and participated in daily feeding distributions to people living in slums
and slum areas
I helped to build a house for a local family
I helped to build extensions on a school for the local students
I participated in local youth groups
I witnessed for and cared for women in local jails
I helped to plan and hold community and church events
I provided medical aid to people living in the slum areas.
I was heavily involved in cultural rituals and traditions
