WHY PARTICIPATE AT 6TH AFRICA WATER WEEK (AWW - 6)


The 6th Africa Water Week (AWW-6) provides an excellent opportunity for you to
be part of shaping policy direction for water resources and related sector management
in Africa; influence science, technology and innovation, network with decision
makers and implementers, scientists, development specialists, knowledge managers,
industrialists and manufacturers, civil society and other major stakeholders in water
and related sectors. It is also an opportunity to participate in over 44 sessions
including High-level plenaries, technical sessions, and side events, with over 100
speakers and panellists drawn from diverse areas of specializations. It is also an
excellent platform to network and meet many diverse participants drawn from over
1000 expected participants across 100 countries around the globe

MAIN THEME FOR THE 6TH AFRICA WATER WEEK


The main theme for AWW - 6 is ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
GOALS (SDGS) ON WATER SECURITY AND SANITATION
There will be four Sub-themes under the main theme as follows:

Achieving Universal and Equitable Access to Water and Sanitation for All
Ensuring Water Security and Climate Resilience
Strengthening Productive Wastewater Management and Improved Water
Quality
Improving Policy, Financing and Monitoring

During the week technical sessions will be run in parallel to meet the objectives of
sub-themes.
2.1

Technical Sessions
The technical sessions will drive learning development and policy agenda
setting and run in parallel under the four sub themes. The sessions will set to
achieve the following objectives:

Develop a roadmap for implementing the SDG 6 as well as interlinking goals on water security and sanitation.
Push for regular, evidence-based monitoring and reporting on agreed
targets and implementation plans.
Improve stakeholder awareness of the implementable actions for
achieving the set targets and actions.
Strengthen cooperation across countries with shared water resources.
Advocate for member states endorsement and operationalization of the
Ngor Declaration on Water Security and Sanitation as a vehicle for
achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6.
Build stronger partnership for the implementation of AMCOW Work
Plan and the Ngor Declaration on Water Security and Sanitation.

registration is from Sunday 17th July, 2016 at the conference venue.

The exhibition spaces are fully built-up and are in sizes of 3 x 3 m 2, and 3 x 6
m, as will be displayed soon in a downloadable Exhibition Floor Plan. The fee
to exhibit for the five days including set-up fee is:

SPONSORSHIPS
There is an opportunity to sponsor a limited number of participants from the youths,
women, civil society and media networks. Criteria for such sponsorship include:

Membership of a network currently engaged in partnership with AMCOW and in


the implementation of AMCOW work plan.
Membership of an organization which may not be currently in partnership with
AMCOW but which work contributes to the implementation of AMCOW work
plan.
Evidence of work being executed in the organization having a direct relevance to
the implementation of AMCOW work plan.
Value of participation to the achievement of the overall goals and objectives of the
6th Africa Water Week.
Evidence that without such sponsorship, such applicant will ordinarily not be able
to attend the conference.

Such sponsored participants are obliged not to receive another sponsorship from other
AMCOW partners for the purpose of attending the 6 th Africa Water Week and are
expected to declare any multiple sponsorship should they occur after being selected

for sponsorship through this process. Where such occurs, such selected applicant is
expected to relinquish the AMCOW sponsorship offer.

SIDE EVENTS
Side events provide the opportunity for host organizations to launch initiatives,
projects or programmes, and products or services; organize panel discussions on
specific desired topics and showcase professional networks and associations.
Organizations or individuals interested in hosting side events are requested to
familiarize themselves with the rules below and also to complete the application form.

The side events will be accommodated from Tuesday 19 th to Thursday 21st July
2016 during lunch breaks 12:30 13:30 hrs and after main sessions 17:30 -18:30
hrs.
Rooms of 150 - 250 seating capacity will be provided for the organization of the
side events.
Organizers will be charged subsidized rates for hosting side events.
Lunch time side event: 1,200 Euros.
Evening Side Event: 1,500 Euros.
Availability to host the event is on a first come first served basis.
AMCOWs Secretariat is the ultimate decision maker for granting permission for
a side event.
Any additional costs for catering or interpretation/ translation, will be borne by the
applicant. For catering requests please contact JNICC.
Organizers of side events are free to develop programs and formats for their
planned events.
All applicants are required to fill the application form online and/or send filled
forms to info@africawaterweek.com or africawaterweek@amcow-online.org.

NOTE: Deadline for Side Event application is 30th May, 2016. No applications will
be considered after this date.

CLOSED MEETINGS INFORMATION


Organizations or individuals interested in hosting closed meetings are requested to
familiarize themselves with the rules below and also to complete the application form.

Availability to host the event is on a first come first served basis;

The closed meetings will be accommodated prior and after the Africa Water Week
on Sunday 17th July and in the afternoon of Saturday 23rd July, 2016;
The costs for the closed meetings as charged by the venue management will be
borne by the convener of the closed meeting;

Once the booking is made all closed session conveners are kindly requested to
register online and /or fill in the closed meetings form and sent to

Conveners and co-conveners and 6AWW Sponsors have the possibility to hold
closed meetings prior to the main sessions for the duration of the conference days
(18th - 22nd July, 2016) in the mornings 8 to 9 am or after the evening side event
slots (18:30 -19:30)
