Electricity Scavenger Hunt

Grade 5s, you have a unique opportunity to explore the wonder of electricity.
Our grade 9 students have put together an electricity extravaganza! While
being gentle with their projects, your job is to enjoy the creations that our
grade 9s have made. To understand that while electricity can seem magical
at times, YOU can easily find the knowledge to harness its power and create
wonderful inventions. To help you find this knowledge, we have created a
scavenger hunt to point you in the right directions.
1. Take a photo of at least two different types of conductors (a pathway
for electricity to travel)
2. Take a photo of an insulator (something that stops or inhibits the flow
of electricity)
3. Take a photo of at least two devices (resistor, light bulb, motor, buzzer,
etc.)
4. Take a photo of at least 2 different switches. ** You have to be super
observant as many of these switches are created specifically for the
users to interact with the device, so they may not look like a switch
that you have seen before.
5. Using the following symbols, try your best to draw a circuit diagram of
a carnival game. You may use the inspiration that the grade 9s have
given you, or design your own. Remember that good circuit diagrams
include straight lines.
Once you have collected all of your photos and created your drawing, post
them all in a slide show (PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, etc.) with a
definition in your own words of Insulator, Device, Switch, Conductors. Your
final slide should include two drawings: one of your device and the other, a
circuit diagram both should include labels of the insulators, Devices,
Switches and Conductors.
