Tuesday

Science 8:29-9:08
Objective: Students will be able to describe the features of the ocean
floor.
Learning Activities:
(Students will continue working in pairs on activity they began on
Monday.)
1. Students will read the assigned pages aloud with a partner.
Students should be working on reading with fluency and using
text features.
2. Students will create a jingle with motions to represent the
different features of the ocean floor in the order that they appear
while moving across the ocean.
3. Students will share jingles at the end of class.
Assessment:
Students will complete a ticket out the door that will require them to
name the features of the ocean from the left to the right. They will be
quickly checked and glued in the interactive science notebooks.
Assembly 9:08-9:47
Literacy 10:02-10:41
Objective: Students will be able to sort their words using a writing
sort. Students will also be able to define characteristics of a narrative.
Learning Activities:
1. Read aloud book (narrative)
2. Work in groups to make a list of qualities of narratives (complete
on iPad)
3. Display each groups on air play and work as a class to create a
list encompassing all traits the class agrees upon. Create anchor
chart.
4. Students will complete their writing sort individually following the
narrative assignment.
Assessment: List of attributes relating to narratives will serve as
assessment.
Math 10:41-11:40

Objective: Students will be able to use the distributive property to


evaluate expressions.

Learning Activities:
1. Review order of operations (based on HW some students who
met standards will practice flashcards, those who need additional
help will meet with teacher at middle table).
2. To start todays lesson watch interactive lesson on envision (stop
to let students answer questions and write expressions in their
notebooks.
3. Do model, guided, and individual practice on board.
4. Play bingo
5. Homework: page 40 numbers 1-16 even
Assessment:
The bingo game and homework will be used to assess student
understanding

Wednesday
Literacy 7:50-8:29
Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding
of each of the assigned vocabulary words by using each of the words in
one story.
Learning Activities:
1. Begin by playing vocabulary review game.
a. Form two teams
b. Tape vocabulary words to wall
c. Have students race to slap the word beginning defined by
teacher
2. Students will use all 10-vocabulary words to create a story that
demonstrates they understand the meaning of the words.
Assessment:
Students will send vocabulary story to me via email.
Literacy 8:29-9:08
Objective: Students will be able to compare and contrast using a Venn
Diagram.
Learning Activities:
1. Teacher will read aloud two different stories.
2. Students will work in groups to complete Venn Diagram
comparing the two stories.
3. Students will then complete their own Venn Diagram on a topic
of their choice (suggestions will be listed on board).
Assessment: Individual Venn Diagram will be used as assessment.
Science: 12:38- 1:17
Objective: Students will be able to describe the features of the ocean
floor.

Learning Activities:
1. Review the order of the features that make up the ocean floor.
2. Now that students understand the order of the features, they will
learn more about each feature.
3. Students will be given 8 large index cards that they will use to
create a picture dictionary.
4. Students will create a title page and then include a definition and
colored illustration of each feature.
5. These will be hole punched and tied to form a book.
Assessment:
Teacher observation and questioning will be used to ensure all students
understand each of the features.
Writing 1:17-1:56
Objective: Students will focus on picking a topic for their own
narrative piece of writing.
Learning Activities:
1. Look at several examples of narratives.
2. Discuss common themes/topics that could be used.
Assessment:
Ticket out the door: Each student will write one topic they potentially
could use as their topics.
Math 1:56-2:35
Objective: Students will be able to use the distributive property to
evaluate expressions.
Learning Activities:
1. Students will work in pairs to create tutorial on concept of using
distributive property.
2. Each student will create a short video using iMovie explaining
what the distributive property is.
3. One partner will focus on addition and one partner will focus on
subtraction.
4. Students will upload to Google Doc
Assessment:

Videos will be viewed to ensure all students understand the concept.

Thursday
Science 7:50-8:29
Objective: Students will be able to describe the features of the ocean
floor.
Learning Activities:
1. Students will complete RAFT writing assignment relating to the
features of the ocean.
a. R (Role): Tour Guide
b. A (Audience): Tourists
c. F (Format): Travel guide / brochure
d. T (Topic): Travel across the ocean floor
Assessment:
Rubric will be used to assess students writing or brochure.
Math 8:29-9:08
Objective: Students will be able to evaluate algebraic expressions.
Learning Activities:
1. Watch interactive video from enVision.
2. Model, guided, and independent practice will be done on the
board.
3. Students will play evaluating expression game.
a. Students will work in pairs
b. Students will draw an expression out of one bag
c. Students will roll dice to determine value of variable
d. Who ever has the largest answer gets a point
Assessment:
Teacher observation throughout activity and HW will be the
assessment.

Literacy 10:41-11:40
Objective: Students will demonstrate their comprehension of the story
Off and Running. Students will work with their word sorts.
Learning Activities:
1. Listen to the story online (by using interactive teachers guide)
2. Review comprehension by engaging in discussion following the
reading.
3. Students will complete word work of choice (students will be
working towards points on the spelling contract from Words Their
Way).
Assessment:
Teacher observation and discussion will serve as assessment.
Silent Reading 1:56-2:35
Friday
Math 9:08-9:47
Objective: Students will be able to evaluate algebraic expressions and
work on multiplication facts.
Learning Activities:
1. Review algebraic expressions by discussing any questions
students still might have.
2. Have students practice multiplication facts using a variety of
centers:
a. Ipad games
b. Around the world
Assessment:
Students will complete a ticket out the door reviewing concepts from
the whole math chapter.
Learning Buddies 10:02- 10:41
Reading Test # 2 & Silent Reading 10:41-11:40
Objective/Assessment: Students will demonstrate their overall
comprehension of the reading, Off and Running from their Journeys
textbook.

Writing 12:38-1:17
Objective: Students will determine a topic for their narrative writing
piece.
Learning Activities:
1. Begin with read aloud of a narrative.
2. Students will complete graphic organizer on potential topic of
their paper.
Life Skills with Lilly 1:17-1:56
Team Building 1:56-2:35
Students will work in teams to flip a sheet over using nothing but their
feet.
