CONSIDERATIONS/
RECOMMENDATIONS
-

The program is more beneficial when teachers receive professional

development on a constant basis to reflect and learn new approaches..

Children with learning disabilities, such as reading difficulties and students who
struggle academically, receive plenty of time to learn and understand the
habits of mind, such as working tough, setting goals and thinking first.

Teaching the social and emotional capabilities needs to be taught also out of
the classroom, this includes in the playground and throughout the school day.

Teachers should use the explicit teaching guidance contained within the You
Can Do It program. This is because it outlines how the content of the lesson
should be delivered.

HEALTH
The World Health Organisation (1948) defines health
as: A state of complete physical, social and mental
well being and not merely the absence of disease or
infirmity.
Donatelle (2004) states that there are six dimensions of
health:
PHYSICAL HEALTH
SOCIAL HEALTH
SPIRITUAL HEALTH
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
INTELLECTUAL HEALTH
EMOTIONAL HEALTH

AUSVELS
You Can Do It program also correlates with the four main areas of personal
development, this being;
*Learning to understand and manage their own emotions (Ausvels, 2015)
*Developing resilience, confidence and dispositions which support learning (these are
taught through the 5 keys and habits of the mind) (AusVels, 2015)
*preparing for lifelong learning, and
*recognising and enact learning principles within and beyond the school (These
principles allow children to learn and grow through difficulties in their life) (AusVels,
2015)

CONCLUSION
Overall this program is highly
beneficial to improving students social
and emotional wellbeing when
implemented within schools in the
appropriate manner. Therefore, though
there are perspectives that may
challenge this view, this is evident in
such schools including Cheltenham
and Roseworth Primary have seen
fantastic results from this program.
