    HelenBeasley,26yearsold,fromBritainwasleftpregnantwithtwins.Shewasnotable
    toaffordtotakecareofthetwinsalongwithhersevenyearoldson.Thesituationthatleft
    Beasleypregnantwasasurrogacycontractthatsoonwasbroken.HelenBeasleyfoundCharles
    BermanandMarthaWheeleronlineandwantedtohelpthemoutbecausetheywerenotableto
    havekids.Beasleycommunicatedwiththecoupleviaemail.ThecoupleofferedBeasley
    $20,000forcarryingthebaby.OncethecouplefoundoutBeasleywaspregnantwithtwinsthey
    wereshocked.Courtdocumentsindicatethatthecontractshesignedcalledforhertoabortany
    additionalfetusesifshehadmultiplefertilization,...(CNN2001).Although,Beasleywasnot
    thelegalparentorguardianofthetwinsshewascarryingsheopposedofabortingoneofthe
    children.Beasleytoldthecoupleshewaspregnantwithtwinswhenshewas8weeks,however,
    thecoupledidnotmentionanythingaboutanabortionuntilshewas13weekspregnant.The
    threehadorallyagreedthatanyabortionwouldoccurbefore12weeksofgestation(LosAngeles
    Times2001).ThecoupletoldBeasleytohaveanabortionwithoneofthebabiesuntilshewas
    thirteenweekspregnantwhichwastoolateandtoofaralonginthepregnancy.Thecouple
    decidedtoterminatethecontractandsueBeasley....reimbursethem$80,000inexpenses,
    sayingshebroketheircontract(LosAngelesTimes2001).Beasleywaspregnantwithtwins,
    gettingsuedandnotbeingabletofindafamilyforthetwinsbecauseshewasnotthelegal
    guardian.

    family."Theydidn'twanttwobabies.Theywantedonebabyandthat'sit,"TheresaErickson,a
    SanDiegoattorney,saidearlierthisweek."WhenHelensaidshewouldn'treduce,theysaid,
    'Well,weonlywantedone.Wedon'twanttoseparatethem,soyoufigureoutwhatyou'regoing
    todowiththetwobabies'"(CNN2001).Beasleywasleftinahorriblesituationbecausethe
    couplewasclearonwantingonechildbutleftBeasleytodecideonwhatshouldbedone.
    BeasleyshouldalsogetmoneyfromWheelerandBermanbecausetheyleftherinadifficult
    situationandwillnothelpher.
    InordertoavoidthesituationWheelerandBermanshouldhavegonetoasurrogacy
    clinicsotheprocesswouldhavebeenthoughtfullyprocessed.Also,Beasleyshouldhavebeen
    carefulwithwhatthecontractsaysbecauseshedidbreakitbynotgoingthroughwhatwas
    stated.BermanandWheelerdidnotwanttoseparatethetwinsbutwantedoneofthemaborted
    whichmakesnosensebecausethebabytwinwouldhavebeenseparatedeitherway.Berman
    andWheelerarelegalguardiansoftheunborntwinssotheyshouldfindafamilythatwillaccept
    thetwinsandbeabletoprovideforthem.AnotherwayBerman,Wheeler,andBeasleycould

    beenalongwaitbutbetterthantogothroughcourts.
