Introduction
6th grade students cover their first ELA unit during the first 4 weeks of school. In this lesson, 6th grade
ELA teacher Megan Wiggley and I collaborated on a Kahoot! review activity. Students use their own
mobile devices or school-owned iPads to participate in the review activity. The Kahoot! questions are
projected on to a screen, and the students answer the questions with their mobile devices.

choice on meaning and tone.
ELAGSE6L1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage
when writing or speaking.

Essential Question
What are the main concepts in Unit 1?
Activity
Before review: Mrs. Wiggley and I used her Kahoot! account to create a review quiz covering Unit 1 ELA
information.
During activity:
Class came to media center; those who have BYOT consent were reminded to bring their mobile
devices.
Students without their own mobile devices signed out school-owned iPads.
Kahoot! review quiz was projected on to screen at the front of the room.
Students were told to go to kahoot.it and enter the code projected on the screen.
Mrs. Wiggley and I walked around and confirmed that every student was signed in and ready.

Each question was projected and a timer counted down. The screen indicated when each
student answered.
When the time was done for each question, the correct answer was shown and the leading
scorers were listed.
When the final question was done, the final winners were listed. The game can be reset and
played again.
