PURPOSE
In this lab, you will determine the relationship between the mass and length of spaghetti
noodles. You will do this by making a data table to record the lengths and masses of
small pieces of spaghetti. In order to make the best possible graph, use 20-30 pieces of
widely varying lengths of spaghetti. Record your data in your notebook.

HYPOTHESIS
If you weigh the longer piece of spaghetti then you will find that the mass will be greater
because there is more matter in that spaghetti piece.

RESULTS

CONCLUSION
In this lab we measured the length and mass of the spaghetti and determined the
relationship between the two. We used the balance to find the mass of the spaghetti and
the ruler to find the length of the spaghetti. In conclusion, my hypothesis was proven to
be correct; as the length increases generally the mass increases as well. If a spaghetti
piece had a length of 17.5 centimeters and a mass of .6 grams, compared to a spaghetti
that had a length of 9.8 centimeters and a mass of .2 grams; we can infer that a spaghetti
piece that is longer has more mass due to the fact that it has more matter. This data then
proves my hypothesis.
