Activity: Distribute PDFs to all students and have the counselor go over
more detail regarding content of the PDFs. From there, introduce the iPad
to the students and show the first YouTube video

so important to use in education and for learning). After a time of
questions/answers and discussion, show the second video that goes into
depth about the iPad and using eBooks. Show the second YouTube video
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLzCXB-BD9g, an introductory overview of the
iPad). More time for questions/answers and discussion. Watch the last
YouTube video about why Christian Academy gives each student an iPad
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS4rqd9Zp9E#%20). Instruction in using the
electronic library research tools Ebscohost, Britannica, and Google Scholar (PDF about
how to use Ebscohost, https://www.regent.edu/lib/help/tutorials/ebsco-guide-search.pdf).
Conclusion: Review the presentations and encourage discussion. Ask the
students what they have learned and if the information presented was
helpful. Lead a question and answer time.
Plan for Evaluation: How will each of the following be collected?
Process Data: All incoming freshmen are required to sign in and attend orientation. This group lesson is a
requirement for orientation.
Perception Data: Counselor will run this group session about iPads and electronic research tools and will
be available to help students with any future questions.
Outcome Data: Students will be proficient at using the iPad and electronic academic research tools.
