Yemen - 2011
In Yemen there was a major civil war going on against the current president Ali Abdullah
Saleh.
The rebellion against Saleh was effective, due to the growing amount of protesters and the
shrinking amount of government military officials.
General Ali Mohsen, one of the key leaders of the rebellion against the Saleh regime, was
considered the second most powerful leader in Yemen.
Ali Abdullahs General Peoples Congress claimed that Saleh would step down, however he
refused to sign the document.
Ali Abdullah Saleh was attacked in his palace in Sanaa due to this. An explosion occurred in
his palace. He was wounded and flown to Saudi Arabia.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh later returns to power.

Yemen - Post 2011

After returning, Saleh had finally agreed to step down.
He signed a paper giving his deputy, Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi,
temporary power.
As of 2012, Abdrabbuh stood unopposed.
Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi has failed to tackle many of the
nation's problems since his election at 2012, such as
malnutrition, poverty, islamic extremists, and the Zaidi Shia
rebels.
It was planned on February 2014 for a new constitution to be
drafted. Rival political groups, social groups, tribes, and the
Congress had met up at the meeting. Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi
drafted a new constitution. However it was not liked by all the
groups and was never made official.

Yemen Conclusion
The Rebels had gotten Saleh out of
office, but they have yet to better the
country. The new leader has yet to
better anything.
The new Constitution was never ratified,
and the country still lays divided, and
not yet changed.
Many people died during this process,
and not much has changed. Therefore
the Arab Spring has not had enough
positive effect on the people.

government until a new constitution is finalized and elections are held.
