WORK EXPERIENCE

Teacher

Princeton ISD

th

Taught 6 grade Social Studies and Science at Huddleston Intermediate School. Moving to Clark Junior High to teach for
16/17 school year. Pending results of the ELAR STAAR, will be working in 8 th grade STAAR Prep, 7th grade ELAR, and/or
Texas History. This year, used interactive journals for both Science and Social Studies, which allow easy access to
students' ongoing progress, as well as their understanding of content over time. Areas that need additional time are
evident, as well as overall mastery of any unit of focus. Instructional materials are added and sequence adjusted, as
needed, to improve comprehension and flow of content, as well as synthesis of ideas for long-term reinforcement.
Effective questioning is valuable during a lesson to give immediate feedback on whether the class [or specific students]
need further instruction. In Social Studies, employed both annotation and Cornell Notes to promote students' analysis of
text and to assess current and review objectives. Used both Cornell Notes and an integrated a Cornell/Cloze combination
of note-taking this year in Science; which I have found an effective method for introducing new units, reviewing unit facts,
and facilitating students in summarizing and expressing main ideas. I conduct both informal and formal assessments,
facilitated individually, as well as in small and large groups, and are both written and oral. Some examples of methods
used are questioning, think/pair/share, self/group assessment, exit tickets, quizzes, unit tests, six weeks exams, inquirybased oral and written projects, and review and reinforce activities. I have individual conferences with students, which
include periodic grade reports/status; if a student needs additional instruction to achieve mastery, I provide tutoring
opportunities on a regular basis where they may sign up, as needed.
