5SRW Manifesto

Lesson by Ciro Sannino | Official 5SRW study material

5SRW stands for 5-Step Render Workflow and it is a methodology study and
development of photorealistic images, made by a mix of:

- Principles and photographic approach

- Real world analysis
- V-Ray technical aspects

This allows us to break down the production process in 5 well-defined phases:

Framing
Light balance
Materials
Final Render
Post Production

The 5SRW is the abstraction layer we need to easily handle the complexity of
V-Ray

People learning V-Ray beginners and advanced are basically spending

time to build a personal idea of the entire photorealistic process. By
constantly studying different tutorials, what we really do is creating the big
picture in our mind. In other words were trying to build our Abstraction
Layer.

The problem is that building a solid abstraction layer by ourselves, as

autodidact, could be a long, dispersive and frustrating experience, especially
if we dont know what we really need. We can find lots of information on the
internet, however these are just pieces of the puzzle and not always reliable.
Plus, adding the fact that this process is usually unconscious, it takes much
more effort than it should.

People who have a strong artistic spirit can instinctively compensate that
gaps, however hes not taking advantage of the power that awareness and a
solid abstraction layer could provide.

Studying 5SRW you build directly your abstraction layer, focused on a

Photographic approach.
5SRW is not just learning parameters, its about studying the principles
above in order to completely and easily master all parameters below. In
first 10 lessons, I have summarized the most important things to ALWAYS
keep in mind before we get started with the 5SRW method (from lesson 11)

Goal

Building a solid Abstraction Layer youll be able structure your knowledge,

working faster, being effective. You will develop the ability to go strait top the
point, to avoid redoundances and you will reduce the entire process time
from lighting to the final render of 50% at least.

We are here to help you become a Photographer using V-Ray.
