Interdisciplinary Team Meeting

Process

Set a goal for the team

Team goals should use data-driven decision making to represent a purpose to improve teaching and learning within a positive school climate
Examples
Our team will use student interest surveys to create and integrate an interdisciplinary lesson for each content area that
incorporates identified student interests
Identify Team Responsibilities- Each team member is expected to be an engaged participant.
Contributors and Collaborators- IDT members should consider this time as a planning time. Focus on sharing instructional strategies;
creating dynamic instruction and assessment opportunities; sharing successful strategies or activities that need honing; and identify methods
to build and sustain positive student relationships.
Recorder: Minutes will be provided to Administration weekly
Time Keeper: The meetings should be kept to no longer than 45 minutes
Facilitator: Meetings should be positive and constructive and focused on students and instruction
Determine types of documentation and resources necessary to inform the process
Instructional resources
Intervention suggestions
Communication logs
Student interest surveys
Student attendance logs
Student Focused
Consideration given to all students on the team from at-risk to advanced
Develop and sustain relationships with students
Develop Behavior Plans
Create intervention plans
Set goals for students

Grade-level Department Meeting

Process

Set a SMART goal for the team

Team goals should represent a purpose to improve teaching and learning

Examples

Each member of our team will implement 1 formative assessment each week focused on application of skill development

Each team member will integrate one interdisciplinary (one other subject) lesson into their instruction each week.

Each student on our team will make quarterly gains in (define specific skill) using a team developed pre/post assessment

Each student on our team will have led an instructional lesson of 3-5 minutes by years end.
Identify Team Roles- Each team member is expected to be an engaged participant.

Data Technician

Gathers data from all members

Creates tables/charts/graphs that represent results to team members

Data Wall Curator

Posts incremental assessment data

Manages the creation of a narrative (cause information) that accompanies the numbers (effect).

Recorder/Timekeeper (This role splits for a team of 5).

Takes minutes using a standard template

Distributes minutes to team members

ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS

Ensures team sticks to appropriate time frames

How clear are you and the team on the schools

Keeps team informed of available time per step

need for improvement?

Focus Monitor

How well did the school do? How do you know?

Keeps dialogue focused on step in the process

Do you know which teachers are being successful

Reminds team of purpose when necessary

now? Do you know why?
Determine types of data necessary to inform the process

Do you know which teachers are not being

Classroom-based assessments
successful right now? Do you know why?

Formative assessments

Do you know which students are being successful

Benchmarks
right now? Do you know why?

State standard assessments

SMART Goal Defined

SMART GOAL

Specific

The goal is focused, for example,

by content area, by learners
needs.

Measurable

An appropriate instrument or
measure is selected to assess the
goal.

Appropriate

The goal is within the teams

control to effect change.

Realistic

The goal is feasible for the team.

Time limited

The goal is contained within a

single year

SMART goals will not only be a part of the Teaming process but
they are a required element of the Teacher Evaluation
System.

Teachers will create 2 SMART goals in the Teacher Evaluation

System process: an individual goal and a goal created
with the Department Data Team.

USING DATA IN THE TEAM PROCESS

Step 1: Collect and Gather

Data
Data teams gather and display data
from a formative assessment.
Through the disaggregation in this
step, teams will be able to plan for
acceleration of learning for all

Step 2: Analyze and

Prioritize

Step 6: Monitor and

Evaluate Results

Teams identify strengths and

needs of performance and
then form inferences based on
the data. Teams also prioritize
by focusing on the most
urgent needs of the learners

Teams monitor and reflect on

their progress. When goals are
met, teams shift their focus.

Step 5: Determine Results Indicators

Step 3: Set SMART Goals

Teams monitor their use of strategies

to determine the impact and
effectiveness of their efforts. This
includes making mid-course or midweek instructional adjustments.

Teams collaboratively set

incremental goals. These shortterm goals are reviewed and
revised every 2-3 weeks.
Step 4: Select Strategies
Teams collaboratively identify
research-based instructional
strategies using data analyzed
in Step 2.
