Description of alterations and evidence of demand
To integrate the Richings Park Pre-school provision for 2 to 4-year-olds into our school provision. This
provision was due to close due to retirement of the current owner.
To lower the age ranges of Iver Village Infant School to 2 years old. This will make the schools age range 27 years, rather than the current 4-7 years.
Iver Village Infant School is a school for girls and boys aged from 4 to 7 but currently does not have any
nursery provision. The proposal is to extend the age range of children at Iver Village Infant School from a
lower limit of 4 years old to 2 years old, thereby providing nursery provision. We know from current
admissions information that Richings Park Pre-school is a strong candidate for parental choice..
Integrating this nursery will ensure that good nursery provision continues in the location of Richings Park,
and that children will continue to have a local, high quality, good nursery place. It will also mean that they
can be confident that their child or children will be educated within the ethos of Iver Village Infant school,
which has a Good Ofsted rating. The school has a successful, inclusive and vibrant ethos and an
increasing school roll year on year.
Please note that there is no change proposed to our determined admission arrangements. The schools
determined admission arrangements for school entry to Reception remain unchanged and there is no
change to the current policy that a nursery place in any way guarantees a place at the school, in line with
our admission policy which is on the school's website.
Children currently registered at Richings Park Pre-school will be able to continue in the setting when it is
part of Iver Village Infant School.
Richings Park pre-school will continue in St Leonards Hall in Richings Park, not move into the school
buildings.
Objectives (including how the proposal would increase educational standard and parental choice)
To ensure that there is continued and adequate good nursery provision in the area of Richings Park.
To extend our high-quality education within a distinctive inclusive ethos through the Nursery provision.
To offer bespoke educational experiences and personal development opportunities to children from the
age of 2.
To increase parental choice by providing additional spaces in a school led nursery.
To retain and improve parental choice through the opportunities provided by our stimulating learning
environment.

Iver Village Infant School offers a high-quality education within a distinctive inclusive ethos. By offering an
extended age range, we will be able to take our existing strengths and distinctiveness and extend this
through the Nursery provision. We are a small school which offers unique educational opportunities within
our locality. Working well with our local community we are confident that we can continue to provide
bespoke educational experiences and to extend the childrens good
personal development
achievement.
By expanding to integrate the additional nursery, we will also be retaining parental choice. In addition to
its small size and inclusive distinctiveness, Iver Village Infant School also offers Parents the opportunity to
send their child or children to a school that has a vibrant and challenging learning environment and a
strong focus on outdoor learning.Through all of this, we are confident that we can maintain the benefits of
being a small school, including excellent teacher-pupil relationships and personalised education, and our
own distinctiveness.
The Headteacher at the Infant school has significant experience of working within the early years setting
and our Foundation Stage Coordinator is an excellent Early Years leader. This, combined with the fact that
some of the present pre-school staff will remain unchanged will ensure high-quality teaching and learning
for the nursery children.

The effect on other schools, academies and educational institutions within the area
The proposed increase to 30 hours free education in 2017 for 3-year-olds is expected to result in a shortfall
of pre-school places in the area. The proposal may have a small impact on other providers in the short
term but no impact over the medium to long term.
The integration of the nursery into the school provision means that there will be no additional nursery
provision, merely the integration of an existing provision, therefore, no abundance of extra unneeded
spaces.
The incorporated Richings Park Pre-school will continue to provide good or better provision for the children
of Richings Park, Iver Village and surrounding area.
We believe that integration of the nursery will have a positive impact on other local schools. By offering
extra nursery places we will be able to support other nurseries/preschool settings that are oversubscribed
with 2 and 3 year-old places.
Project costs and indication of how these will be met, including how long-term value for money with be
achieved
Iver Village Infant School has a reputation for providing value for money within the context of a small rural
school. We have a history of fiscal prudence and every confidence that this will continue through the
expansion period.
The costs of expansion will be graduated over a number of years as the development is in stages. The
costs fall into three areas: human resourcing, physical resourcing, educational resourcing and the costs
within each area increase as pupil numbers increase.
The largest capital cost lies within the educational resourcing of the nursery. However, much of the early
stages can be covered through internal restructuring.
We have conducted a thorough assessment of the resources needed and effects on the existing Infant
school provision and we are confident there will be no adverse impact on any existing level of provision.
Implementation and any proposed stages for implementation
Our objective is for the current provision by Richings Park Nursery to be integrated and the school provides
nursery provision from 1st September 2016.
We have already conducted an informal consultation of parents of both settings during the first part of the
summer term.
The proposal has been agreed by the Governing Body and will be decided by the Local Authority with an
outcome expected by the start of the new Academic year in September 2016.
A statement explaining the procedure for responses, support, objections and comments
The Governing Body of the School will consider all comments received during the consultation period. We
are consulting with all relevant stakeholders as required by law when making changes to school age
range arrangements.
If anyone has any comments, questions or objections to the proposal, they should write to Joyce Young,
Chair of Governors, Iver Village Infant School, Grange Way, Iver, Bucks, SL0 9NT by 12 noon on Monday 4th
July 2016. Alternatively please email the school: office@iver-inf.bucks.sch.uk.
The school will be able to successfully manage this change, allowing the nursery provision inside and the
outdoor space to continue to be developed for the 2-4-year-olds. The provision will continue to be
situated in St Leonards Hall.
