Point System:
Tests = 100 points
Quizzes = vary in points
Assignment = vary in points
Materials Needed:
1. Reading and/or subject book (You should have a book with you for leisure reading when you
have finished an assignment or test. This way youll have something to quietly do while
your classmates finish. I will have books available in the classroom or you may bring
your
own from home or the library.)
2. Notebook one for English and one for social studies (a multi-subject one is okay for both
classes)
3. Folder One for each subject
4. PENCILS, PENCILS, PENCILS!!
(over)
Hall Passes
You must take a pass with you wherever and whenever you go. You must ask my permission
before leaving the classroom. Use the 5 minute passing time wisely, for there will be no passes
allowed the first 20 minutes of class. After that, passes will be limited.
Late Work
Late work is unacceptable unless it has been worked out with me ahead of time. Failure to turn
work in on time will result in points deducted.
Extra Credit
I offer extra credit in the form of corrections. If you score below a 70% on an assignment, you
may correct it to earn more points. For example, you got a paper returned that had a score of
60%, and you made corrections. You would get half of the remaining 40% which is 20% to
change your score from 60% to 80%! If an assignment has only 2 answer choices such as true or
false, you will not be able to correct those for extra credit. Take advantage of this! It is the
ONLY time you will get extra credit.
Assignment Books
Assignment books can be a very valuable tool. This year you will have multiple teachers in
different classrooms. An assignment book may be just what you need to keep yourself organized
and remind you of assignments, project due dates, and upcoming tests. They can even be helpful
for after school activities and practices. Im going to even start using one more myself!
