I am currently working as a front-end web developer in a fast growing

startup in the educational space in London. My main specialization is
following googles design guideline ( used for android ) in converting
business and market needs into online software products for students.
Examples of this would be creating a centralized database for all job listing
within major industries (UK) - this helps students plan for application
deadlines more effectively so that it does not interfere with their normal
exams and studies.
Creating a search function to match students to potential employers and
vice versa.
When it comes to stack I have been heavily using the Elm Architecture
along with rxjs to build web components. I am not particularly interested in
using some monolithic framework like angularjs since in production they
always fail for any mildly complex task.

taskwascreatingaclientsideparsertoallowuserstouploadsubtitle
tracksthatcanbeedited,savedanddownloadedas.srtfiles.
The editor allows real time editing while the user is listening to the track
and synchronises the typing to the audio being placed to auto generate the
timestamps. Something the older microsoft editor could not do.

The main concentration of my degree is mathematical modelling as

practised in industry. This involves intense 5 week period of working with 5
team members to solve real problems in industry - everything from
self-driving cars to railguns and chemical reactors.
I finished my degree with a very application oriented thesis that looked at
solving the problem of tactile perception that can be used in conjugate with
an industrial arm to bring real productivity benefit to car manufacturers by
automating the task of quality assurance - a largely labour intensive part of
modern car assembly. The problem itself was not very different that the
kind of problems I had solved in the past but allowed me to develop a lot of
new expertise in the field of computer vision and robotics.
It also involved working with ABB industrial arms and understanding their
software stack and learning a new microcontroller language RAPID just for
the purposes of my thesis. I also helped bridge a real gap between
hardware engineers and researchers by porting a large C# codebase made
for controlling ABB robots to IronPython. My refraction was quickly
adopted by researchers at BRL due to its simplicity in getting people to
jump into robotics without having to learn a lot about C# or about the ABB
software stack.
