been ascertained as contaminated. Following a month-long
water testing campaign from
May 5, the Society of Pollution
and
Environmental
Conser vation Scientists
(SPECS) has come out with its
report presenting an alarming
scenario with the water tested
in most areas was found to be
non-potable either due to
excess residual chlorine or total
fecal coliform, said the societys
secretary Brij Mohan Sharma.
Addressing the media here
on Sunday, Sharma said that
the society had initiated the
water testing campaign in all
the 60 municipal wards of
Dehradun including the VIP
areas and slum settlements.
As part of the study, SPECS
collected water samples from
all sixty wards with active collaboration of the volunteering
water guardians (Jal Prahri)
concerned local residents.
The report being released in
public domain and will also be
sent to the State Government
and the Chief Ministers office.
Sharma said, The study
reveals a seriously alarming situation with the water in most
of the places included in the

unless there is Fecal Coliform
present in it. Even the department does not seem to realise,
or try to understand, that chlorination is the same as treating

drastic situation, since Chlorine
is a toxic gas that can cause
harm and even cancer. If water
is chlorinated, it should not be

AUDI BURNS TO
ASHES IN DELHI
New Delhi: An Audi A4 car caught
fire and was virtually reduced to
ashes at Peeragarhi flyover on
Friday midnight. The car owner,
Kapil Agarwal (32), was on his
way back home to Paschim Vihar
from Rohini, when he noticed
flames coming out from the car's
bonnet.
He immediately got out of the car
and the Audi burnt down
completely within seconds.
Agarwal called police and fire
station, but by the time anyone
could arrive, the car had totally
burnt down.
Police said that the car was
registered under the name of a
leading jewellery store, which is
owned by Agarwal. Agarwal told
the police that he had got the
servicing of his car done in
January this year and ever since
he had been facing problems with
the car.Police officers said that
Agarwal was driving at a decent
speed. Agarwal smelt something
burning, after which he reduced
the speed of his car.

burglars-cum-thieves from West
Delhis Uttam Nagar and recovered various stolen property
from them. According to the
Delhi Police official, one stolen
Honda Activa Scooty, two Bajaj
Pulsar M/cycles, one Yamah
Fazer M/cycle, various gold jewelry items etc were recovered.
The police official said that
the kingpin of the gang is
Sonu Mathur who hails from
Uttam Nagar is a school
dropout. Initially, he committed petty thefts and with the
passage of time although being
less educated he graduated in
the crime. He later constituted
his own gang with co-accused
Rahul, Bhalu , Kapil, Kali and
committed bigger burglaries.
All these criminals hails from

various pockets of West Delhi,

said the official.
Further investigation of the
case is in progress and efforts are
being made to arrest the coaccused persons and to affect
more recovery and to ascertain
their involvements in other
cases also, said the police official.
The gang was planning to
arrange sophisticated weapons
for executing bigger burglaries
to make quick money. The
gang members lived life at its
fullest and used to visits Clubs,
Pubs etc. and also used to regularly visit Goa and Hill
Stations etc. and were recently
planning to spend full month
in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
The trio rocked the area by
series of burglary. The accused
persons have disclosed their
involvement in about two
dozen cases of Burglary, said

pachyderms and a calf at
Asurkhol under Tileibani
block in the Prabhasuni

death of the jumbos was yet to
be ascertained.
The bodies would be sent
for postmortem, after which
the cause of the death could
be known, a forest official
said.
Notably, another elephant
had strayed into Asurkhol village last Sunday (June 5) and
was lying at a place in Kapasira
forest for three days, after
which locals had alerted forest
officials.
The officials called in
experts from the Odisha
University of Agriculture and
Technology (OUAT) to provide treatment to the ailing
jumbo.
However, it succumbed to
the infection three days after
undergoing treatment.

sit inside. We also never said
that we wont provide service to
the children. But then the kids
were making a lot of noise,

restaurateur, I have the right to

Meanwhile, following the
directions of the Deputy CM,
the New Delhi district magistrate visited the restaurant on
