Introduction:

Chemicalreactionscreatenewmoleculeswhenthebondsarebroken.2
The
collisiontheoryisthetheorythatareactiondoesntoccuroritisneededfortheatomsor
moleculestocollideintooneanotherforareactiontohappen.Theatoms/moleculesalso
needtocollidethecorrectwayorelsetherewillnotbeareaction.Thereactionshappen
whennewbondsareformedandtheatoms/moleculesneedtohitinawaythatwillpromote
bandformation.Themoleculesalsomustcollideattherightamountofenergy,enoughto
overcometheenergybarrier.3
Theamountofenergythemoleculesalsocollidedetermines
thespeedofthecollisionandreaction.Thegreatertheforceofenergythemolecules
collideatthegreaterthereactionintheconcentration.Although,withoutapropercollision
themoleculeswillnotreact.Thespeedoftheconcentrationreactionisalsodeterminedby
itstemperature,thegreaterthetemperatureoftheconcentrationthegreaterthe
concentrationreacts.Thereasonisthatwhenthetemperatureoftheconcentrationis
highermoreandmoremoleculesreactionwitheachother.Iftherearemoremolecular
reactions,therearemorecollisionsintheconcentrationwhichwillincreasethereactionof
theconcentration.
Duringtheexperimentalstudy,aseriesofchemicalreactionswereperformedthe
chemicalmoleculesinbeakerAandbeakerBcollidedwhichcausedareactionofthe
concentrationschangeincolor.Theamountofthedifferentchemicalsputintothe
concentrationeffecttheamountandtheenergytheirmoleculescollideat.Theamountof
energythemoleculescollideandtheamountthatcollideproperlyeffectthespeedandtime
atwhichthereactionwilloccur.CouldHydrogenPeroxidebeusedasanenergybooster
fortheconcentrationsreaction?DoestheHydrogenPeroxidecontributeenergyintothe
concentrationforafasterreaction?Whenincontacttoskinthischemicalbeginstoreact
withfizzybubblessuchassoda.Maybethefizzybubblesaddenergyintotheconcentration
whichwillsupportthereactionofthemoleculesbetter.
Experimental:
ThechemicalsusedtocreatethesolutionforthisexperimentwereIodine,Ascorbic
Acid,HydrogenPeroxide,Starch,andDistilledwater.Therewerethreesetsof
experimentsconductedinordertogettothereactiontimeof2minutes,whichwasthegoal
totrytogetforthereactiontimeofthesolution.Forthefirstsolutiontherewastendropsof
AscorbicAcid,twentyfivedropsofIodine,and5mLofdistilledwatercombinedinBeaker
A.InBeakerBtherewassixtydropsofhydrogenperoxide,10dropsofstarch,and5mLof
distilledwatercombined.Oncethetwoseparatesolutionswerecreated,therewasa
stopwatchstartedrightwhenthetwoseparatesolutionswerecombinedintotheReaction
Beakeratthesametime.ThestopwatchwastorecordthetimethesolutionofbeakerA
andbeakerBwouldreact.Thereactionofthesolutionwasobservedandrecorded.The
datawasalsorecordedoftheamountusedofeachchemicalingredientinthesolution.For
thefuturesolutionsthesameprocesswasdonetocreatethesolutionsexceptthe
differencewasthattherewasonlyonechemicalingredientthatwouldhaveachanged
amountusedinthesolution.Thesolutionsdatawouldalsoberecordedandobserved.
ResultsandDiscussion:
Eachsolutionsethaddifferentresultsanddifferentreactiontimes,butthesolutions
hadthesamereactions.Allofthesolutionschangedcoloroncethedifferentbeaker
solutions,BeakerAandBeakerB,werecombinedtogethersimultaneously.Thereact
wouldbeginfromthethestartofalightgoldenyellowcolortoabeercolortoapplejuice
thenthefinalcolor,cranberry.Thestartingsolutionwasclearlikewaterbeforethereactions
wouldoccur.Fordataonethetimeittooktofirststartnoticingareactingwas45seconds
andthefinalreactiontimewas1minuteand12seconds.Datatwo,ittookabitlongerto
startnoticingachangeincolor.Ittook2minutesand20secondsforthebeginningifcolor
changeandthefinalreactiontimeforthesolutionwas3minutesand14seconds.Thefinal
experimentwastheexperimentwherethesolutionsfinalreactionmetthegoalofafinal
reactiontimeoftwominutesandzeroseconds.Thetimeittooktostartreactingwas40
seconds.Thesolutionalsohadthesamereactionastheother.Thedataforthedifferent
experimentsareshownbelow.

Peroxide,AscorbicAcid,andIodinearecombinedtheOxygenfromtheHydrogen
PeroxideandAscorbicAcidsupportthereactionrateincreaseoftheIodineandstarch
reaction.ItisthereforecorrectthatthemLincreaseoftheHydrogenPeroxide,asdonein
experimentalstudythree,contributedtotheincreaseoftheconcentrationsreactionrate.
