Monster
Monster Energy is an energy drink which was founded in April 2002. The
regular flavour comes in a black can with a green tear-shaped M logo. The
company is also well known not only just for the energy drink, but for
supporting many extreme sports events such as BMX, Motocross,
Speedway, skateboarding and snowboarding, as well as eSports. In
addition, Monster Energy promotes a number of music bands around the
world, like Asking Alexandria, The Word Alive, Maximum the Hormone and
Shine down.
The caffeine content of most Monster Energy drinks is approximately 10
mg/oz (33.81 mg/100ml), or 160 mg for a 16 oz. can. The packaging
usually contains a warning label advising consumers against drinking
more than 48 oz per day (16 oz per day in Australia). Europe does not
have these warning labels. The drinks are not recommended for pregnant
women or people sensitive to caffeine.
The ingredients include cyanocobalamin, maltodextrin, riboflavin,
sucralose, pyridoxine hydrochloride, carbonated water, sucrose, glucose,
citric acid, natural flavours, taurine, sodium citrate, colour added, panax
ginseng root extract, L-carnitine, caffeine, sorbic acid, benzoic acid,
niacinamide, sodium chloride, glucuronolactone, inositol and guarana
seed extract.
Like all energy drinks, there are side effects that come with drinking this,
it can cause jitteriness, anxiety, and high blood sugar levels. If mixed with
alcohol, it may also mask the level of alcohol intoxication. This is identical
to the Rockstar Energy Drink.
Red Bull
Red Bull is an energy drink sold by Austrian company Red Bull GmbH,
created in 1987. In terms of market share, Red Bull is the most popular
energy drink in the world, with 5.387 billion cans sold in 2013 alone.
Red Bull contains caffeine, taurine, B vitamins (B3, B5, B6, B12), sucrose,
and glucose. To produce Red Bull Sugar free, sugars sucrose and glucose
have been replaced by the sweeteners acesulfame K and
aspartame/sucralose.
The original Red Bull from Austria (carbonated) has been exported to
China since 2014. In addition, the local energy drink brand is also called
Red Bull. Red Bulls sold in China have two versions: a regular-strength
version in a short, wide, gold-and-red can similar to the Thai drink and an
"extra-strength" version in a taller, thinner, blue-and-silver can more like
the Western version. Neither Chinese version is carbonated.
Like all energy drinks, consuming this will have effects on your health.
Most of the effects of energy drinks have a heavy effect on your mental
performance, such as increased attention and reaction speed, are
primarily due to the presence of caffeine in the drink. Also, drinking this
can potentially mask the effects that alcohol has on you, and the person
may misinterpret their level of intoxication (in other words how drunk they
are). If they were stopped by the police for example, and they do a
breathalyser test, the person may find themselves in an unfortunate
situation where they have told the police a lie, saying they are more drunk
or less drunk than they actually are.
Consuming these drinks on a frequent basis can also lead to cardiac and
psychiatric conditions. So all in all, if you are to drink a can of red bull,
dont make it a regular thing to do for your own good, as the negative
effects substantially outweigh the positive ones.
