The Clinical Informaticist reports to the Director, Clinical Systems
Architecture. Under limited supervision, the Clinical Informaticist serves as an OCMIO informaticist to maximize the practical utility of healthcare information technology (HIT), particularly Epic, on an enterprise-wide basis. This position utilizes advanced clinical knowledge combined with information technology expertise to enhance HIT utilization at MUSC. This role identifies sub-optimal HIT utilization in clinical settings within the medical center and develops improvement strategies. The Clinical Informaticist facilitates communication and organizes workgroup meetings with end-users, Epic teams and medical center leadership. This position functions as a resource to staff and assists educators/trainers in the development of education literature and training programs to promote training and understanding of Epic use. This role collects and assists with rank ordering user enhancement requests related to Epic and other HIT applications. This role will work up to 20% of their time as an NP or PA in a clinical setting at MUSC with the balance of time spent throughout the hospital and clinics serving as an OCMIO informaticist.
