Vision Statement

My vision as a teacher is to have a positive environment that makes students want to

learn and grow individually. I hope as a teacher that I inspire students to push themselves and to
want to learn more about subjects like science and math, and to dig deeper when it comes to
writing and learning about history. I do not want to discourage students, or cause them to hide
but I wish to open them up and push them to look forward to learning. As a teacher I hope to
possess the qualities and skills that the teachers who inspired me had and to also have a student
centered classroom so that my students can grow and help each other. I hope that my future plans
for my classroom is successful and that I inspire the next generation of teachers.
Some of the teachers who inspired me had some of the same qualities and skills. Most of
them were outgoing, up-beat, and positive. They also knew what to do and were ready to go
every day. I rarely saw them falter or get shaken up by when something didnt work, and they
were always on the go and ready for anything. The teachers I had made even the awful
worksheets worthwhile and turned lessons into fun and activities and used their creativeness to
get students involved into their lesson. These teacher in my past showed me what a great teacher
is and what qualities and skills I wish to possess as a great teacher.
I want my classroom to be set up and prepared for project and group based activities. I
want to arrange the desks so that students can work with each other and collaborate when they
learn a new objective, or work on real world problems together. I want my assignments to not be
all worksheet based (but of course some will be) and I want multiple projects that will be
computer/research based, cooperative, or at home projects so that students can put what they
have learned in class to use and create a project to demonstrate their understanding of the

objective or objectives. A student-centered classroom is there to help the students by allowing

them to help each other.
My plan as a teacher is to create an environment for students were they can grow as a
student and as a person outside of school. I hope to be the teacher that they remember when they
leave, and write letters when they get to college and have to write to one of their inspirations. My
plans include having a student centered classroom, being a positive influence, and teaching them
more than just math. My class will be a growing room, where students will continue to build on
their knowledge with each other and use others around them to thrive in their new found
intelligences. I also wish to create an environment around them that is positive and rewarding, so
that whatever they have going on at home will fade away when they walk in the classroom. My
plan is to also teach my students more the just the average subjects but to prepare them for the
next grade and beyond.
My vision as a teacher is to be as influential as Erin Gruwell was to her class, she not
only taught them English but she got them through some of the hardest years of their lives by
creating a safe environment. I hope to be as positive and driven as she was to help her students,
and to overcome their obstacles. She not only raised their test scores but she raised their
confidences and helped them become young adults. I hope to touch (not physically) my students
and to push them through hard times. I hope my classroom can be a safe environment for them,
so that they will not feel judged to be themselves or to become the intelligent self-driven people
they can be.
