Creating a GSM BTS by Using Summary

Table - Background
The iManager M2000-CME V200R011 version supports the creation of a GSM BTS by using Summary.
Similar to the negotiation data, the data is planned in the Excel sheets and then imported to create BTSs
in batches. This function is evolved from the Summary-based BTS creation function of R9/R10 versions.
Compared with the function in R9/R10 versions, the function described in this document has the following
improvements:
Simplify the operating procedure: Do not need to transform a Summary Table to a
negotiation data table. The Summary Table can be imported directly.

Reduce the concept use: Combine the original version data with the BTS template. Specify
the BTS template in the Summary Table.

only

Backward and forward compatibility: If the old features of the network element are fixed, and the
user does not add new features, the original Summary Table can be imported into a new network element
version for smooth upgrade.

Release the optimized version: Integrate the functions into and release together with the CME
version. Meanwhile, support the independent release of function components.

Improve the supporting facilities: Provide the custom tools of the Summary Table. Quickly
customize the Summary Table through the GUI.

Note: Functions of the original tools are reserved, such as to specify the Base Id, frequency
modulation attribute, channel allocation rule, and radio frequency (RF) connection rule.
Note: You are advised to use the function to create BTSs in batches. With this function, 50 BTSs can be
created at a time.

Collecting Office Data

The user obtains the data required for creating the GBTSs in batches based on the site scenario. The
following information is available through customer negotiation, internal planning, and interconnection.
(1) BTS device data:

Confirm the BTS device data based on Huawei delivery and the on-site application.

(2) BTS negotiation data:

Negotiate with the customer and confirm all parameters that the customer concerns, including
the cabinet/frame/slot No., BTSIP, IPPATH, and BTSIPRT.
Huawei provides a table for collecting key data at the transport layer and creates the
transmission planning data together with the customer. The parameters at the transport layer
adopt default values set by Huawei and are fine tuned according to on-site conditions.

(3) Cell negotiation data:

Negotiate with the customer and confirm all key parameters that the customer concerns,
including the parameters of the cell, neighboring cell, and external cell of the MCC, MNC, LAC,
RAC, CI, NCC, BCC, and BCCH.
The Excel sheet provided by the customer lists the planned data of each cell based on the
preceding parameters.

(4) Feature activation data:

The site specific data is available based on features purchased by the customer or customized
as required by the customer.

Confirming Algorithms Automatically - RF

Connection Rules

Based on the on-site connection plan, the BTS Configuration field filled in the BTS
Transport Layer tab can calculate the RF data automatically by using the filled RF
connection relation. The field, which conforms to the rule of the connection tool, can be
configured.
Note: If the field is not filled in, the original version BTS and target BTS (that is, the BTS
to be created) must keep the consistent information of the RF connection. If the original
version BTS is S1/1/1, a BTS created finally can be only the S1/1/1. If the BTS S1/2/1 is
to be created, you need to prepare the original version BTS again.

Confirm the RF connection rules by using the following methods:

(1) Obtain the connection tool of BTS RFU/RRU at support.huawei.com.
(2) Use the tool to configure the on-site BTS construction scenario. If the wiring diagram
of the BTS RFU/RRU drawn by the tool is consistent with that of the site, the diagram
conforms to the rule. Otherwise, you need to submit the diagram for OR review and
customization.

Note: On the standalone CME, the Site RFURRU Connect Tool can be used during site deployment using the summary
data file. The tool is ineffective and is invisible to customer.

Confirming Algorithms Automatically Channel Allocation

The algorithm of the automatic channel allocation (Number of BCH/PDCH/SDCCH):

If the RF connection data is generated automatically (that is, to configure BTS
Configuration), the user can fill in the Number of BCH/PDCH/SDCCH field in the Cell
Basic Info tab to specify the BCH/PDCH/SDCCH channel generated in the corresponding
cell. The field is optional.
The tool provides several channel allocation algorithms by default. You need to select
algorithms according to the on-site conditions. For details on algorithms, see related
description in the New GBTS (Creating BTS by Summary) from the Help page.

Note: On the standalone CME, the Site RFURRU Connect Tool can be used during site deployment using the summary
data file. The tool is ineffective and is invisible to customer.

Preparing a Template - BTS Template

BTS template

A BTS template includes the following data:

BTS device data, such as the cabinet, RF board, clock source type, and some alarms.
BTS transmission data, such as the connection interface between the BTS and BSC and
BTS IP.
All object parameters at the TRX level, such as the TRX's device attribute, frequency
hopping (FH) type, and flow control attribute.
All object parameters at the channel level, such as the channel type and channel FH
index.

The CME system provides default BTS templates. Meanwhile, the CME system provides
the function of customizing BTS templates. With this function, the user can configure a
sample BTS in the CME system based on the on-site conditions, and save the BTS as a
custom template for subsequent operations.
Multiple BTS templates are required for creating an office or several BTSs in batches.
For details about how to prepare a BTS template, see the related section in the CME
Help.

Preparing a Template - Cell Template

Cell template

A cell template includes the algorithm parameters of the cell attribute, idle mode, call
control, handover data, channel management, other properties, and GPRS attribute.
If the cell template is defaulted, most cell channels and algorithm parameters of all cells
are the same except for the basic info of the cells. The preceding same information is
saved through the cell template for the follow-up configuration.
The CME system provides the default cell template. Meanwhile, the CME provides the
custom function of the cell template. With this function, the user can configure a sample
cell in the CME system based on the on-site conditions, and save the BTS as a custom
template for the follow-up operation.

Multiple cell templates are needed for an office or creating BTSs in batches.

For details about how to prepare a Cell template, see the related section in the CME Help.

Summary Table

Summary Table

The Summary Table displays different configuration data among all BTSs.
The CME system provides the default Summary Table. Three types of default Summary
Tables provided by the CME system can be directly used for multiple offices.
Meanwhile, the CME system provides the function of customizing Summary Table. With
this function, the user can customize the Summary Table based on the on-site conditions.
You must fill in the BTS Transport Layer and Cell Basic Info page in the Summary
Table.
Before filling in the Summary Table, the user needs to check whether the field in the

Filling in the Summary Table (4)

Except for the preceding key fields, you need to refer to the Summary Table descriptions
of the special parameter from the Help page for the filling methods of the special fields
in the collection table. The following page describes some fields briefly.
(1) Frequency-related fields
Frequency Class

Indicates a frequency list divided boards. The frequencies allocated to the same board are enclosed by square brackets.
For example, [11,12] and [13,14].
If the frequencies bound to all boards are not specified, do not fill in the field. Dual-band cell does not support the
configuration of the field.
After the field is filled in, the CME system operates as follows: When the Frequency Class field is not blank, but the
Non-Main BCCH Frequency List (Separated by ",") field is blank, the CME system uses the value of the Frequency
Class field (the main BCCH Frequency is removed) to fill in the Non-Main BCCH Frequency List (Separated by ",")
field. The CME system does not fill in the Non-Main BCCH Frequency List (Separated by ",") field if the field is not
blank.
Note:
BCCH Frequency List (Separated by To prevent data inconsistency, you are advised not to fill in the Non-Main BCCH
Frequency List (Separated by ",") field when it is necessary to fill in the Frequency Class field.

Frequency of
BCCH

Indicates the main BCCH frequency of a cell. The field is mandatory.

Non-Main BCCH
Frequency List
(Separated by ",")

Indicates the non-main BCCH frequency of a cell. If the cell is configured with a baseband frequency hopping, you need
to fill in all non-main BCCH frequencies of the cell.
If a cell is configured with a radio frequency (RF) frequency hopping (FH), you need to fill in all frequencies involved in
the FH (support only the cell configuration of all TRXs involved in the RF FH). Frequencies are separated by commas.

After the field is filled in, the CME system uses the value of the field to fill in the MO parameter Frequency and sets the
value of another MO parameter Is Main BCCH to Yes. This indicates that the frequency is the main BCCH frequency.

If the Frequency Class field is already filled in, you cannot fill in the Non-Main BCCH Frequency List (Separated by
",") field.
After the field is filled in, the CME system uses the value of the field to fill in the MO parameter Frequency and sets the
value of another MO parameter Is Main BCCH to No. This indicates that the frequency is a non-main BCCH frequency.

Page 28

Filling in the Summary Table (5)

(2) Channel related fields (Applicable to the standalone CME)
Number of BCH

Support CBCH

If the RF connection data is generated automatically (that is, to configure the BTS Configuration field), the
Number of BCH field indicates that Channel 2 and Channel 4 of the main TRX B supports the BCH
channel.

When the field is set to 0, no BCH channel exists.

When the field is set to 1, the CME system configures Channel 2 of the main TRXB as the BCH channel.

When the field is set to 2, the CME system configures Channel 2 and Channel 4 of the main TRX B as
the BCH channels.

If the RF connection data is generated automatically (that is, to configure the BTS Configuration field), the
Support CBCH field indicates that a cell is configured with a CBCH channel.

When the field is set to Not Support, a cell is not configured with the CBCH channel.

When the field is set to BCCH_CBCH, the BCCH_CBCH is the main BCCH channel type of a cell.
Meanwhile, the BCCH Type field cannot be configured.

When the field is set to SDCCH_CBCH, the Channel 1 type of the main TRX B changes from SDCCH to
SDCCH_CBCH.

If the SDCCH is not the Channel 1 type of the main TRX B, Channel 1 of the main TRX B is not set to the
SDCCH_CBCH. The precondition of configuring the channel type as SDCCH_CBCH: The value of the
Number of SDCCH field is up to "1".
Number of
PDCH

If the RF connection data is generated automatically (that is, to configure the BTS Configuration field), the
Number of PDCH field indicates the number of PDCH channels of a cell. Refer to Table 1 for the data
generating process.

Number of
SDCCH

If the RF connection data is generated automatically (that is, to configure the BTS Configuration field), the
field indicates the number of SDCCH channels of a cell. Refer to Table 1 for the data generating process.

(3) FH related fields
900 MHz
MAIO List

Indicates the offset list of the 900 MHz FH group when a cell is configured with RF
FH. Offsets are separated by commas. Refer to the Generating FH data table for
the data generation process.

1800 MHZ
MAIO List

Indicates the offset list of the 1800 MHz FH group when a cell is configured with RF
FH. Offsets are separated by commas. Refer to the Generating FH data for the data
generation process.

EGSM MAIO
List

Indicates the offset list of the 900 MHz Band Class E FH group when a cell is
configured with RF FH. Offsets are separated by commas. Refer to the Generating
FH data table for the data generation process.
The frequency range of 900 MHz Band Class E is from 975 to 1023.
