Phong spoke highly of the cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam,
the Communist Party of Italy and the Communist Refoundation Party. She
expressed her hopes for future development of bilateral relations. Paolo Ferrero,
General Secretary of the Communist Refoundation Party pledged to stay side by

The Vietnamese and Italian party officials mentioned challenges and opportunities for

the communist movement in the world. They consented to step up cooperation and
exchanges to share experience in developing the parties and peoples capacity.
The Italian parties representatives also expressed concern over the new and
complex developments in sovereignty disputes in the East Sea. They said they
support Vietnam s stance of peacefully settling disputes and respecting international
law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Ugo Moro, member of the Communist Party of Italys Politburo, said Vietnams
