The PATH

Have you seen any of the embarrassing interviews where people are asked very basic and general
knowledge about our country, the world, political leaders, etc. It is really amazing at how illiterate the
general population is to things that are pretty important.
I recently watched a video of Americans young and old and the answers were embarrassing. No, Fidel
Castro is not a pop singer. Yugoslavia is not a country that begins with the letter U (and not one of these
proud Americans said the United States of America although two did say Utah.) Great Britain does not
use Queen Elizabeth money, nor do they use American money. Though we have just finished a war with
Iraq not one single person could point in the general vicinity of Iraq on a world map. No, the preeminent
religion of Israel is not Catholicism or Islam. A Hebrew is not an animal. There have only been two world
wars. And, collateral damage is a real thing, not just something related to a movie.
While I find it sadly entertaining to watch these interviews, it is indicative of the world that we live in
today. We have more information available to us than any time in the history of the world but we are sadly
under informed and often misinformed. Someone just told me recently that it was Abraham Lincoln who
said you cannot believe everything you read on the internet. Those are very true words, Mr. President.
Youve got to give it to Honest Abe, he really nailed that one.
The truth is that ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is the breeding ground for fear, prejudice, and defeat.
Youth, never stop studying, reading and learning especially Gods Word.
What is true in the realm of general knowledge is also true in the spiritual world. It is amazing the
biblical illiteracy that abounds in our world today. While it should not surprise us that a non-Christian is
ignorant of Biblical truth, that should never be said of us. Never stop reading. Never stop learning. Never
stop gleaning truth from the pages of Gods Holy Word. For in it is the source of life.
This is the last Scripture Ill leave you with, young people. Take hold of it and bury it in your hearts and
minds. Know that Ill never forget any of you. May you continue to mature into the next generation of
leaders in the church. And may you always fixate your eyes on that old rugged cross. May God bless you
richly, my young brothers and sisters.
And who will harm you if you are passionate for what is good? But even if you should suffer for
righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear or be disturbed, but set apart the Messiah as Lord
in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to anyone who ask you for a reason for the hope that is
in you. However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are
accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing
good, if that should be Gods will, than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3.13-17)
Forever in Christ with love,
Trip
