Chapter I
INTRODUCTION

The most respected profession in the world is teacher. He/she is a model and is
consciously imitated. According to Panda and Mohanty,(2003) the teacher is the
pivot of any education system. In fact, teacher are the strength of a nation.
Teachers develop performance style characteristics to their ways of relating to the
world, perceptually as well as cognitively. A person is, therefore, likely to act in a
way that maximizes the use of his aptitudes.
Similarly, teachers positive attitude towards teaching and higher aspiration
level determines his positive perception of the environments. It is universally
recognized that teachers instructional plays a key role in students learning and
academic achievement (Panda and Mohanty, 2003). There are many factors that
influence the teachers job performance such as aptitude, attitude, subject
mastery, teaching methodology, personal characteristics, the classroom
environment, general mental ability, personality, and relations with students. For
development of quality teachers one has to understand the factors associated with
it.

Teacher must always be updated of the latest trends and issues


concerning their field of specialization to keep their students well
informed on the situations of the corporate world. Mote et al.(2014) stated
that competent faculty members enriched learning activities using up-todate reference, practiced innovation towards globalization. Teachers
should continuously compare, analyze and evaluate the methods being
used in order to motivate students and to make the learning as effective as
possible (Camello 2014). Hence, this study aims to determine the job
satisfaction level of the teachers in public elementary schools in the
District of Dumarao.

Statement of the Problem


This study will be conducted to determine the employment profile and
satisfaction level of up-land elementary teachers towards work in the
municipality of Dumarao.
However this study will answer the following questions:
1. What are the socio-demographic profiles of the respondents?
2. What is the satisfaction level of the respondents towards work?
3. What are the work related factors of the respondents?
4. What are the employment profiles of the respondents?
5. Is there an association between the respondents socio- demographic
factors and their satisfaction level as teachers?
6. Is there an association between respondents work related factor and
satisfaction level?

Objectives of the Study


The study aims to determine the employment profile and work
satisfaction of the up-land teachers in the municipality of Dumarao.
Specifically, the objectives of this study are the following:
1. To determine the socio-demographic profiles of the respondents.
2. To determine the satisfaction level of the respondents towards work
3. To identify the work related factors of the respondents?
4. To determine the employment profiles of the respondents.
5. To determine the association between the respondents socio-demographic
factors and their satisfaction level as teachers.
6. To determine if there is an association between respondents work related
factor and satisfaction level.

Significance of the Study


The result of the study was beneficial to the following.
The result of this study will be beneficial to the:
Teachers. This study will help the teachers in all educational institutions to better understand
and to promote unity for harmonious relationship with each other. Furthermore teachers as
example of good moral behavior and conduct delivering quality education to the learners are
in great need nowadays.
Teacher Applicants. This study will give additional information regarding the advantages of
becoming a regular Dep.Ed. Teacher.
Teacher Education Students. This study will give aspirations and positive perspective to the
students taking up educational degree towards the teaching profession as it shows the
personalities of teachers on which they dream to become after they graduate.
Department of Education. This study will give additional information to the Department of
Education in giving benefits to the teachers in the elementary level as they determined their
needs.
The Society. This study will give additional perspective to teachers as professionals with
moral high values and dignity delivering public service in the society.

Scope and Limitation


This study covers all regular elementary teachers in the up-land area in the District of
Dumarao. This study is limited only to employment profile and satisfaction level of the
respondents and will reflect other teachers in other educational institutions.

Chapter II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Hypothesis
1. There is no significant association age, gender, marital status, family monthly
income, educational attainment, school graduated, year graduated and the satisfaction
level of the teachers.
2. There is no significant association between years in service, previous employment,
grade level taught, monthly salary, area assignment, status of employment, subject
taught, other assignment, major field and satisfaction level.

Chapter III
METHODOLOGY

Research Design
This study will make use the descriptive type of research and the survey technique.
Place and Time of the study
This study will be conducted on the 2nd Semester of AY 2015-2016 at the upland
areas of the Municipality of Dumarao, Capiz.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents of the study will be the regular teachers on the upland areas in
the Municipality of Dumarao.

Sampling Design
This study will use a convenience sampling technique in determining the respondents. It used a
Slovins formula in determining the sample size. The formula is:

Definition of Terms
To achieve the clarity and precision in the usage of terms that we used in this
study, these are defined as follows:
Age the amount of time during which a person or animal has lived.
Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which knowledge,
skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to
the next through teaching, training, research or simply through auto
didacticism.
Satisfaction Level refers to the degree of contentment of a teacher towards
her/hi job.
Employment refers to the condition of working for pay.
Teacher refers to somebody who teaches as a profession.
Profile refers to a brief description that summarizes the characters of
somebody or something.

Research Instrument
The primary data will be gathered from the records of the Department of Education
district supervisor. A questionnaire will be used to gather the needed data. The
questionnaire will be divided into three parts: the first part will gather the information
about the socio-demographic profile of the respondents; the second part will gather the
needed information on the work related factors of the respondents, and; part three will test
the satisfaction level of the respondents. Relevant choosing of statements will be made
before the final approval.
Statistical Method
The data was analyzed using frequency counts, means and percentage. Chi-square test
will be used in determining the association between socio-demographic factors and profile
and work satisfaction of elementary school teachers.
