Timeline

After defeating the Norwegians, Macbeth and Banquo encounter three witches.
The witches prophesy that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and eventually
become king, and for Banquo, they predict his descendants will be kings, but he
shall not. The witches vanish, and Macbeth and Banquo make their way back to
the military camp. There two men of Duncan congratulate them and announce
that Macbeth is the new Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth is intrigued by the possibility
of becoming king.

Macbeth visits king Duncan and they agree to dine together at Inverness,
Macbeths castle, that night. Macbeth writes ahead to his wife, Lady Macbeth,
telling her what has happened with the three witches.

Timeline

When Macbeth arrives at Inverness, Lady Macbeth persuades him to kill the king
that same night. While Duncan is asleep, Lady Macbeth drugs his guards and
Macbeth stabs Duncan. When Duncans death is discovered the next morning,
Macbeth kills the guards as an act of rage. Duncans sons, in fear of being
murdered, flee to England and Ireland. Due to this, they become the main
suspects. Later, Macbeth is crowned king.

Macbeth hires three murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance, in fear that they will
end his reign. The murderers attack Banquo and Fleance on their way to
Macbeths feast. However, they fail to kill Fleance, who escapes with a torch.
During the feast, Macbeth hallucinates Banquos ghost sitting in a chair.
Macbeths actions startled his guests, whom leave at Lady Macbeths command.

Timeline

Macbeth visits the witches in the cavern. There the witches show him a sequence
of apparitions who present him with further prophecies. The prophecies were: to
beware of Macduff, nobody born from a woman can harm him, and he will be
defeated when Birnam Woods marches to Dunsinane Hill. Macbeth feels relieved
and secure.

Timeline

When Macbeth learns that Macduff fled to England, he orders the murder of his
wife and children. The news of Macduffs family execution reaches him in
England. He is stricken with grief and revenge. Macduff, Malcolm and the English
army unite to fight Macbeth.

Meanwhile, Lady Macbeth becomes plagued with guilt. She sleepwalks and
washes inexistent blood off her hands constantly. While sleepwalking, she reveals
what horrible deeds she and Macbeth have done.

Timeline

Before Macbeths opponents attack, Macbeth receives the news Lady Macbeth
has died. Nevertheless, he awaits the English and fortifies Dunsinane even
though the prophecies of the witches assured him invincibility. Macbeth learns
from his servant that the English army is advancing towards the castle, shielded
with tree parts of the Birnam Woods.

In the battle, Macbeth kills Young Siward, son of Old Siward, leader of the English
army. Later he encounters Macduff, who declares he wasn't born from a woman,
but removed by c-section. Even though Macbeth realises he is doomed, he
continues fighting until Macduff beheads him. After Macbeths reign is over,
Malcolm is crowned king.
