I NTRODUCTION TO D EEP C HANGE


To significantly change our lives and social structure, there must be a change in our
subconscious minds, our beliefs and value system. If gross physical actions are the most
visible and tangible form of human initiative, the creation of values is the most subtle and
intangible. Yet human existence is powerfully determined by the nature of its Value system.
Physical skills, vital attitudes, mental opinions and values represent a gradation of internal
organizing principles that direct human energies and determine the course of individual and
social development.
Self awareness is the key that unlocks the riches of life. We have all the answers we need to
the questions in our lives right inside of us. All we have to do is learn how to access our own
wisdom. Self awareness is achieved by paying attention to our many senses, thoughts,
feelings and intuition. We have to dive deep into our emotions to tap the sources and watch
our thoughts to see how it creates our reality. Discovering our deepest essence is what this
DeepChange workshop is all about. The facilitators will help participants to examine; Self
and Role in various dimensions and the impact they make for yourself and people around
you. Further, how it affects your role in the organisation you belong to.

P RIMARY O BJECTIVE OF THE W ORKSHOP


The objective of DeepChange is to initiate change. The hypothesis on which we attempt
this is that personal and social development is determined by human beings, not external
conditions. External conditions certainly can and do influence the process. People may even
act and react in predictable ways to a given set of external conditions. But the results of any
development equation cannot be reliably predicted on the basis of external factors alone.
Human development is determined by human responses based on choices made by people.
As such, the main focus of DeepChange to bring about change through choice and not by
mere hoping on chance. And the choices we make are based on a deep understanding of our
psychological inputs that created our behaviour patterns and basic competencies.

W HO IS THIS WORKSHOP INTENDED FOR


This workshop is intended for the top management team in your organisation. They will find
this workshop to be very useful and invaluable in moving people processes in their respective
department and the organisation as a whole. This workshop will be an eye opener in
understanding the complexity of human behaviour process and the social operating systems
in organizations.
There is no need for any previous experience or knowledge. The only qualification required is
the willingness to learn and share experiences through active participation and exploration
of the Self & Roles.

U NDERSTANDING G ROUP R ELATIONS W ORKSHOP


The group relations workshop provides opportunities to look at and learn from our
experience of managing ourselves in relation to others; the individual in relation to groups or as a member of one group in relation to other groups.
It is an experiential learning workshop. This approach is about learning: it is educational
rather than therapeutic, exploring the dynamics of group life as they happen; it gives
attention to managing ourselves in the role and the nature of authority and leadership in
working groups. For example, in dealing with groups of trainees, during the individual
appraisal or dealing with departments staff as a whole, just to name a few.
The participants will take back a mountain of experience in managing self and groups in
various transactions. It will allow them to manage subtle behaviour signals in their respective
facilitation and intervention in group and organisational set up; adding a new dimension to
their existential understanding of gross behaviour.
The workshop is designed and facilitators provide participants with numerous opportunities
to learn, through their own experience, about the issues and processes that

take place within the group setup. The participants will reflect upon the relevance of their
learning and newly acquired insights and skills vis--vis their role, and boundaries.
Participants take part in a number of pre-designed activities which will provide opportunities
to deal with different tasks, to be in different roles, and to explore the extent and limits of
their self empowerment, personal authority and personal responsibility.
While that holds true, the capacity to learn and absorb will depend on individuals mental
space and psychological make-up. The learning is personal and differs from one participant
to another in experiential learning. In this sense, participants take responsibility for their own
learning and make their own decision on how these will be applied in their respective roles.

Participants will be given a DC booklet which will form the basis of the journal used for the
workshop and review session.

OF I N STR U CT ION

The medium of instruction is English and occasionally Bahasa Malaysia if the need arises. The
tools however are in English. The facilitator will assist in translating, again only if it is
absolutely necessary.
