17.2 READINGTHECALIBRATIONCHARTS
1.

Foreachoperation,theInspectormustobtainfromthecalibrationchartsthefollowing:
1. For each shore tank measured (opening and closing): the TOV for the Physical
Gauges, the free water volume for the Free Water Gauge and the Roof
Correctionvolume.
2. For each vessel compartment measured: the TOV for the Physical Gauge (trim
corrected if applicable) and the free water volume for the Free Water
Gauge/CorrectedFreeWaterGauge.
22. INNAGECHART
1.Whenthephysical/correctedgaugeobtainedisanullageandthechartiscalibrated
asaninnagechart,theInspectormustconvertthemeasurementtoaninnageby
deductingtheoutagegaugefromthePhysicalReferenceHeight.
2. TheTOVcorrespondingtotheinnagegaugedfractionmustbeaddedtowholeTOV.
3. Typically,thecalibrationcharthasaseparateareaorchartforFreeWater.Ifnot,
thentheFreeWaterTOVmustbeobtainedfromthesamechartandfractions
mayhavetobecalculatedbyinterpolation.
3. ULLAGECHART
1. Whenthephysical/correctedgaugeobtainedisaninnageandthechartiscalibrated
asanullagechart,themeasurementmustbeconvertedtoanoutagebydeducting
theinnagegaugeformthePhysicalReferenceHeight.
2. The TOV corresponding to the ullage gauged fraction must be subtracted from
wholeTOV.
3. Typically,thecalibrationcharthasaseparateareaorchartforFreeWater.Ifnot,
thentheFreeWaterTOVmustbeobtainedfromthesamechartandfractions
mayhavetobecalculatedbyinterpolation.

4. ROOFCORRECTION
1. Roofcorrectionvolumemustbedeterminedbyfollowingtheinstructionsonthe

calibrationchart.UsuallytheroofweighthasbeendeductedfromtheTOVata
setAPIGravity.Insuchcase,theInspectormust:
i.

ObtaintheApiGravityfortheproductinthetank.(seeSection17.3.1.1Shore
TankAPIGravity);
ii. ObtainfromtheshoretankcalibrationchartthesetAPIGravityonwhichthe
roofdeductionwasbasedonandthe+or correctionperobservedAPI
degree;
iii. DeductthesetAPIGravityfromtheAPIGravityfortheproductinthetank;
iv. MultiplythedifferencebythecorrectionperobservedAPIdegree;
v. ThevolumeobtainmustbeaddedorsubtractedfromtheTOVintheshoretank
accordingtocalibrationchartinstructions.
17.3 VOLUMECORRECTIONFACTOR(VCF)
1. APIGRAVITY
Accordingtoeachindividualoperation,theInspectormustobtaintheAPIGravityas
follows:

1. Iftheoperationisaninventory,orifthetankisdeliveringproducttoanother
source,theAPImaybesubmittedbytheterminalortestedintheCamin
CargoControllab.ThetestedAPIispreferred.
2. Ifthetankisreceivingproductfromanothersource,theAPIfortheopeningof
theshoretankmaybesubmittedbytheterminalortestedinCaminCargo
Controllab.UnlesstheInspectorisotherwiseinstructed,thesubmittedis
usedforcalculations.The APIfortheclosingoftheshoretankmustbe
tested or calculated. Unless the Inspector is otherwise instructed, the
calculatedisusedandtheformulaisasfollow:
