Red White and Boom is going to be HUGE!

(Quad Cities) -- 2016s Red White and Boom is sure to be a memorable one. On July 3, the
Independence Day celebration will bring one of the Midwests largest firework displays to the
Quad Cities, along with live music and a variety of other activities. Red White and Boom
Americas Birthday in the Quad Cities is guaranteed to be a source of patriotic family fun.
Red White and Boom will host a unique fireworks display on the Mississippi River. Two dueling
barges will be firing off the celebratory display on the river beginning at 9:30 p.m. The Red
White and Boom committee has joined with Townsquare Medias 97x, to produce a soundtrack
for the fireworks. The music and firing sequence are downloaded into a computer controlled
launch pad, allowing the fireworks to be launched at specific times, accentuating the display.
Schwiebert Park in Rock Island will start their family fun activities at 3pm, while activities at
Modern Woodmen will start at 5pm. Thanks to Genesis Health System, Le Claire Park in
Davenport will also serve as an optional viewing area with a performance by the River City 6.
Activities at Schwiebert Park include inflatables, food vendors and a beer garden sponsored by
Bent River Brewery. Disney Princesses will be making an appearance from 3:30 to 5:30 and a
performance by The Country Couch Potatoes will immediately follow. Later on in the evening
Smooth Groove will perform, setting the crowd up for the fireworks display.
The US Army STEM Experience will be open to the public after the gates of Modern Woodmen
open. The futuristic, interactive computer generated scenario, will be stationed on Gaines St,
just east of the park. Throughout the night there will be musical performances by the Scrap
Metal Brass Band and Rude Punch.
Modern Woodmen and Schwiebert Park, will both host ceremonies with a proclamation
highlighting the Rock Island Arsenal, those who are serving and those who have served in our
nations military. At 8:30pm an Oath of Enlistment ceremony will take place in Modern Woodmen
Park, inducting over 40 recruits into the armed forces.
At 10am on Sunday, July 3 the Major League Baseball association will premiere the Baseball
Hall of Fame Tour in Davenport. In the north parking lot of Modern Woodmen Park, the We Are
Baseball experience of five mobile exhibits will be open to the public for the first time ever. The
tour includes a mobile IMAX theatre showing a ten minute baseball film, highlighting Americas
pastime. Interactive touch screens, baseballs highly treasured artifacts and a virtual reality
lounge are just a few of the amazing aspects included in the traveling Baseball Hall of Fame.

Red White and Boom is generously hosted by Genesis Health System and Regional
Development Authority.
